Hey Ryan, thanks a million for the info! It is greatly appreciated. Did you happen to hear about the main goose opener also? I’m guessing it’s a week after the duck opener(around the 25th of Sept.) like it usually is but want to know for sure so I can get vacations lined up. Good luck to ya this year!
    Thanks again!!!!

Well I knew the early season opener was going to be close, but I didn’t think it was the same weekend… Who, plans a wedding that close to duck season anyways!

No kidding duckilr?! I feel for ya man. We wait all year for the “BIG” day and BAMMM!! Something comes up and we’re sitting at a reception, listening to some music, dancing, drinking and blowing the loudest hail call possible just to let everyone know how we feel.

Actually it’s a close buddy of mines’ which I wouldn’t miss for the world, but man, I might try to sneak out in the am and blast at em before I get dressed up and head to the church. I actually live in Wisc, so it’s not like the home opener, but still want to get out and get the dog some work (or me some work is probably more like it).

Well, at least it’s a wedding of a friend! My wedding ended up being on Oct.16!!!! Man its been almost 11 years of missing some opening duck action. Oh well, my brain was temporarily out of commission. Anyway, thanks you guys for the season information. Any idea why DNR closed the season from Oct. 4-Oct. 15th?

Ducks, not much for me to get ready.I work Tucker a few times and line up places and thats about it.I do not decoy or call, just sneek up on the wabbits so to speak.
Jump shooting is a fun and easy way to hunt ducks but would love to shoot some when called in.I use to have 4-5 dozen decoys, but after I had some stolen I stopped with that part of it.Take care and hope someday you and I can get in a blind together and shoot at the sky.

Did someone mention wedding??? Duckilr, your buddy must not be a big hunter I take it huh? That or we know who has the balls in that family. Just kidding!! I had a buddy that did that to me as well and man it was killing me all day long. Hard to fight it when you can hear the gun shots from outside the church and knowing you should be out there blazing. Guess, just stick your tail between your legs and take it like a man.

    Bust em’ up peeps!!!!

Our season was cut from 70 days to 60 days. To give us the best opportunity hunt geese(resident and migrators) they provided us with a split season. Earlier dates to hunt the residents without having to much of an effect on the migrators and later dates to have a chance at the migrators. Hope that is what you were asking about dandrews. If not we’ll try again.

Ryan, If you were closer it would be much easier for us to get together for a hunt, but I think we can still manage. LOL!!! As you know I’m only able to hunt Sundays. But if you can ever make it over here on a days notice we should be able to have some success. I scout on Sat. night and when the geese are using one of my fields I could give you a call. If it works out great! If not we can always try again.
