Really? 2 more days to the waterfowl opener in MN and no chatter? I for one am pretty excited. Heading to the farm Friday night as always. Blinds are all set, dekes are sorted and restrung, and I have a very itchy trigger finger.

I just told my duck hunting buddy I wouldn’t be going….high 70’s possibly 80 and blue skies….I’d rather get some work done around the place and enjoy a crisp hunt later….
Be safe for those of you going…and good luck! I hear there are plenty of Teal around….

WI northern opener is this weekend. I’ll be north of hwy8 sweating my junk off. Looking forward to calling and being outside this weekend. Working in the cities all week tends to make me more appreciative of my weekends in the woods.

Yeah, it’s gonna be warm for sure but I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Have not missed a weekend of duck hunting when the season was open for 44 years and I ain’t about to start now. I agree it’s more fun when it’s crisp or even a little frozen on the edge of the lake, but you can’t tell Ma nature what to do.

My son is heading out but I think I’ll let him thin the mosquitoes a little before I head out there. Hard to get too excited for a 3-day opening that only goes until 4pm when it’s 80 and high blue skies…

I can’t hunt ducks in 80 degrees and sunny weather. It’s not so much whether the birds will be flying or not, I just don’t like feeling warm when duck hunting. I think a good teeth chattering makes for a great day chasing the little quackers. I will wait for at least 2 more weeks and skip the local ducks and wait on the migrators.

I love hunting early goose in flip flops and shorts so might as well extend that into duck season.

I did a little scouting last night and found 3 fields with good numbers of honkers and ducks… Saturday morning is going to be fun.
