I think that is going to be wishful thinking… I am straight to the east of ya and we are running in the low 70’s again… It’s supposed to get cold, but I m not sure it can do that that fast…

Our lakes are quite a bit smaller, so I would anticipate that ours will cool much faster than Leech.
The big shallow side might cool fast if there is a bunch of wind involved, but I typically find the bigger the lake the slower it warms and cools…

We were up for the weekend. 64 degrees was what we were finding. Alot of perch in the bays, 8-10′ seemeed to be key. A few walleyes from sun down and into dark. Some perch were decent size. Had to pick through them though. Jigs and fat heads. We tried some of the reefs on the main lake, with no sucess. The weather was everywhere this weeekend, may have contributed to poor fishing. Also observed alot of boats moving everywhere often. Got the idea that everyone was looking for fish. Good luck

Heard on facebook a few days ago people were getting 63 degrees. I have been up there and seen it drop 4 degrees over a 3 day period so I am hopeful. Not looking for low 50’s but temps 56-58 would be great.

Yeah that happens on leech. I have burned a lot of gas up there lol. The perch on leech have not impressed me for a decade or so. I hardly target them because you have to filter through so many small ones. I found the perch on Cass to be easier to find eaters.

Saw a guide service post on facebook that water temps are down to 61. Trending in the right direction.

Same holds true for Mille Lacs. Here is the Perch harvest through August 31st.

State angler total: 3,110 of 135,000 allowed lbs. (6,390 fish)

So there is still 132,000 lbs allowable harvest yet? They aren’t there anymore! What’s wrong with that picture? And Leech too? And almost like the “elephant in the room” people are wondering but no one says anything or seems to care. (DNR?)

I’ve heard the dnr mention the perch have been “low” but nothing beyond that. I think leech needs to relax the slot somewhat to pull a few of the bigger eyes out of the lake. Maybe allow one in the 20-26 range I dunno. That’s another discussion.

This is my 13th year going to leech and perch were always on the agenda between chasing eyes. Now I pretty much just chase eyes because 6-7″ perch get old. Though I do know of an area that has held some big ones last few years I’m thinking of running to. Never been to that part of the lake either
