Trying to figure out what’s a good treatment for washing my composite deck. Starting to get mildew spots and dirt build up, so it’s time to wash it. But I don’t want to mess it up obviously.
Any one have a product they use and like. I will spray and scrub it with a broom and then use my pressure washer scrub brush attachment afterwards

I used simple green. Used the pressure washer to put it on, let it sit a bit then pressure washed it off!

I’d check the manufacturers website, see if they have instructions. One thing to watch is to not overclean. Harsher cleaners can take the oils out of plastics and let them breakdown faster. Particularly the finish. I’d think a vinyl siding wash from the home store, a light scrub and wide fan pressure wash would do it.

Ultra Deck from Menards. Use it on my vinyl siding too. It does a nice job

Wet and Forget is an unbelievable product for removing and preventing mold and mildew on composite. I have an “older” composite deck (built in 2005) that was getting mold/mildew spots. Started using Wet and Forget a few years ago and it is spotless. It takes time for the product to work (weeks or months). You just spray it on and let mother nature work. NO SCRUBBING. I now spray my deck every spring and fall.

On a side note, before I used W&F I used a pressure washer and noticed that it started to raise some of the wood fibers from the composite, so I stopped. Will never pressure wash composite again.

I’ve used WF to remove mold/mildew from my vinyl fence and siding, cement, and retaining wall blocks. I am not affiliated with WF. It has saved me countless hours of pressure washing and scrubbing. You do have to be patient. First application took a while to see the effect.

I put on a composite 5 years ago and the manufacturer rep said not to pressure wash for the reasons above. I use a scrub brush threaded for a pole. Elbow wax and soapy water.

    I meant elbow grease 😆
    I’ll try that Wet&Forget if it’s available
