I saw the “Let’s show them off” post in the Yarcraft forum. I think we should do the same thing. How many of us are running Warrior rigs? I am on my second 2090. First one was a 1998 and pretty well used when I bought it. I ordered a brand new 2019 near the end of 2018 and absolutely love it! I have always been a tiller fisherman and I think it will be several years before I ever decide I need to hide behind a wind shield.
I used to have a gen2 HDS 12 in the last boat and decided to go with 2 9″ elite Ti2’s in the new rig. I also went with the 36 volt Motorguide Xi5 72″ long shaft (always been a Minn Kota guy but I wanted to try the integration with the lowrance units), 36 volt vantage on the stern, wave pro 2.0 on the captains chair and one of the movable peds and wave whackers. Upgraded to the torsion axle trailer and the front steps.

Let’s talk boats! Too much other nasty crap going on in the local area with COVID and the Riots. None of that talk on this post please, let’s talk boats and accessories ;)

I have had m y share of boats from a 1994 Lund pro v to a skeeter WX200t to a backtroller Avid to another skeeter MX 1825 and now I found a 2009 Warrior 1890 in almost perfect condition. changed the Merc out to a new Suzuki 140 new trailer coming as I sold the original one and am waiting on a new one, new seats, new Garmin’s, Redid the console making it smaller so I can mount my graphs where the radio was etc… Lots of fun rebuilding git and it is basically a new boat. Just could not get used to fishing from the front of the boat so I sold the MX Skeeter and got this could not be happier. Even got to break it in MN style in the snow for opener.

I started out with a 14 foot aluminum boat and moved up to a 16 foot glass tiller (Crestliner Angler). That was my first glass boat and I will never go back to a tin boat. I moved up to the 1998 2090 with a 125 2 stoke. It was an awesome boat but it was 20 years old and well used. I got tired of fixing something almost every time I took it out and I got my wife on board to buy our last boat. It was a sizable expense but it will last us for a very long time.

How did you like the Avid? I was actually looking at getting one of those before I pulled the trigger on the new 2090. I was trying to get a test drive from the owner and it never worked out. I test drove a a 2090 and 1890 from the Boat Center and the rest if history. The Avid would have saved me a ton of cash but I don’t know if I would have been as happy.

I also got to do some snow fishing haha.

I remember the crestliner angler. That boat road like a dream. Really revolutionary for the 1980’s in my opinion.

The Backtroller Avid was an awesome boat and built as well as any boat out there or better in my opinion. John is a super guy and does only quality. Now to my issues. At the time I bought the boat form John he could not get motors for what ever reason so I opted to do my own and he was more than accommodating. Well I ordered a 90 hp Yamaha and bought 75 HP stickers to put on it. Still the boat struggled to do 35-36 MPH which was barely better than a 75. All I wanted is a boat that would go 32-35 with ought being full throttle. Thus the quest to find an older Warrior that would take a 140 in an 18′ boat. The backtroller is the best quality you can find but it is not their fault you can only put a 75 on it is it a Coast Guard malfunction period. That Backtroller with a 115 Yamaha would be a perfect 17-18′ boat. Now the 1890 Warrior with the 140 runs about 39-42 MPH so at 30-32 it in its sweet spot as far as RPM and uses way less fuel etc.

Sorry I didn’t see this till now. Yes, the 175 is awesome! I was going to go with the 150 but for a little bit more I could get the 175. From what I understand the 175 is the 150 with a tweak to make a bit more power.

I know alot of people put larger motors on the 2090s but the 175 jumps out of the hole real nice and it cruises at the perfect speed. I normally cruise in the lower 30s and it will touch mid 40’s if I really wanted to. Don’t need to hit 50’s in a tiller in my opinion. I test drove one that hit 60mph and that was scary fast haha.

The 175 is lighter than the bigger motors, cheaper, and you don’t get much for a speed increase as you get larger.

To decide what I wanted I test drove boats from the boat center, I am pretty sure it was Pat’s boat set up with the 175 and I was sold.

It will forward troll anywhere from 2.5 to over 3mph depending on wind and waves. I typically use my bow mount for trolling cranks now unless I want to troll faster than 2.5mph. I am sure it will a back troll slower but for that I just use the vantage to do some vertical jigging.

The 175 SHO pairs really well on a 2090. I was really shocked how much of a difference the 175 has over the 150.

Beautiful boat! Interesting you have Garmin and Humminbird did you do that for mapping? I just added a Bird to my Lowrance units because I was fed up with the mapping in Canada.

    I did.
I’m partial to the lake master maps and I like sideimaging better on the bird

Yeah the lowrance mapping in Canada SUCKS! In MN however its as good as lakemaster. IDK how I even fished structure in Canada all these years it was so far off and Navionics is no better.
