Starting at 11pm CST tonight we’ll be load testing the current server cluster. I will be making a backup of the database at that time and any new posts made there after until the testing is done will be lost when the back up is restored. If you are on the site at that time please expect very slow response times and service unavailable errors as the load is increased.

This will help us see where we’re at and give us a better idea on how to proceed with improvements. (there is a lot on the list to be sure)

We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Dave, while your load testing tonight, I’ll find an avatar for your…something special.

Might be some other members willing to help out as well.

See you on the other side! )

LoL will need about a dozen for all of the test accounts I have. D

I do intend on updating my avatar with a current picture soon. It’s been on the list – just haven’t gotten to it.

The database backup shouldn’t interrupt site activity. I’ll be doing that in about another 10 minutes. The first test will be with 50 logged in users for 5 minutes. If the users are unable to log in I’ll need to sort that out and try again. There’s enough anonymous traffic already so just focusing on logged in user activity.

Wordpress is giving a 403 response for the logout of the virtual users – it’s the nonce field. I’m going to remove logging out from the user scenarious and see if that helps.

1st test was aborted by the system.

Least you didn’t get any “are you sure” error pages.

The 50 for 5 minutes test finally ran without any problems. I’ve been trying to get 100 for 5 to run but the LoadImpact site is giving a system abort error after taking for ever to initialize. I’m going to keep spinning them up until they run.

On the up? side I wont have to reload the database. The nonce fields used by wordpress is keeping the virtual users from making posts. (need more time to work around that)

All clear for now – revamping user scenarios and will be rerunning this Sunday night at 11pm.

Thanks Dan – I know it’s come up for others too. There’s definitely some database related code cleanup needed plus some schema changes too. (all on the list)

Whatever Dave did last nite really made an improvement. Log-in and everything else is blazing fast this morning. Normally had time to have a sip of coffee during log-in. NOT NO MORE- – – – -jerr

    Passed along.

More or less just beaten on it with a wrench. Unless you’re a Russian cosmonaut that really shouldn’t have helped here. (even if the hardware was made in Taiwan) D

Dave’s not trying to fix anything yet. He’s trying to see what it takes to break the system so we can identify the weak points, if any.

If you want it broke just put some 8-9 year olds on it and give the free rain. Worked when my girls where young. Glad I had a Knowledgeable friend that could trouble shoot most anything back than.

Keep up the great work, I was very nervous about this new sight but am quit impressed so far.
