Would you consider Lower-Middle Class, Middle Class and Upper-Middle Class as one group or 3 sub groups?
I think an easy way to determine what class you are in is what tax bracket you reside in.
22% rate is 44K-95K I would consider that middle class
24% rate is 95K-182K, Upper Middle Class
32% rate is 182K-231, I would still consider this upper middle class.
Hopefully the feds get with the program and adjust the 32% tax bracket to a higher value, $250K plus.
Too many classes IMO. Lower, middle, and upper class is as simple as you can make it. 25k/year is not middle class, obviously.
Localities vary by region, even within state. A house, cost of living, etc obviously costs a lot more in a place like Wayzata than it does in a place like Willmar. 75k/year would get you a house and an honest lifestyle in Willmar. Not even remotely close in Wayzata.
Well then if you want 3 classes, then you need to have a large range from the beginning of the class to the end. Soo 200% difference from top to bottom is going to likely happen, mostly in middle class because it’s the majority of Americans.
And yes, $25K is not middle class unless you’re making money here and living in Peru.
I will disagree with you, no amount of money will get you an honest lifestyle in Willmar. I grew up 13 miles from Willmar, hard pass. Have you driven through the “parking lot” at the mall? I’m getting off topic.
