Packing up my stuff and moving to Utah.

***edit: here is the post if some of you are afraid of facebook or links…

The walleye, a predatory fish native to Eastern North America, has joined the ranks of introduced fishes threatening our unique native fisheries in Utah. It also makes a great meal!

There is no limit on walleye in the Green, Colorado and San Juan Rivers in Utah, and it is illegal to return them to these rivers alive. The specimen pictured was caught in Split Mountain Canyon of the Green River.

I’ve been preaching this for years!! )

There are huge eyes out in Oregon 13-14 pounds that have been posted here on Ido but everyone goes after the fighting salmon.

I’m still scratching my head trying to figure out how/why the walleye became so popular in the upper midwest.

I’m not trying to get the wallabie guys wound up but just curious as there are better tasting and harder fighting fish. They are pretty, I’ll give them that.

Or they could use the same management plan to keep them under control.

Oops. Did I say that out loud?

The specimen pictured was caught in Split Mountain Canyon of the Green River.

Hmmm 17.5 hour drive = 1250 miles. 1250 x 15mpg = 83 gallons. 83 gallons x 2.75/gallon = $228.00. $100 for boat gas. 2 coolers that can hold 100 lbs each of walleye fillets = 200 lbs. Add in $100/night for 3 nights of lodging = $300. Add in $30/day for food x 5 = $150 and you get a total expense of $750.00. Add in 3-day fishing license for Utah non resident at $24. Grand total for expenses of $774. Round up to $800 for ice and what nots.

    $800/200lbs of walleye fillets = $3.50/lb. Hmmmm…

    ROAD TRIP!!!

Now just gotta figure out what the heck to do with 200lbs of Walleye fillets!

Cost saving ideas: More guys to split the costs…eat sack lunches…steal gas from your wife’s car…sleep in the truck or open air.

Walleye are the kind of fish you bring home to mother!

    DIng DIng Ding.

    The HARVEST FISH.

Ya’ll strictly fish walleyes have contradictions up the wazooooo.
Gotta have eaters for momma…But we Gotta have Giants too! And…Nobody can take too many, because I gotta bring some to momma.

Trophy fisheries aren’t made by bringing fish home to momma.

We wonder why walleye populations in both numbers and size distribution rise and fall faster than a crick after a rain storm.
