The Frontenac Sportsman’s Club will be making the final decision Monday, April 11th on whether we will cancel or postpone the Lake Pepin Open on April 30 – May 1. All indications as of today is still showing very high water towards the end of April. We are hoping for the best, but will not compromise our participants safety.

    Thanks!!

One option our club is currently discussing is that “if” we cancel, we would look at having the LPO this fall late September, early October if permits are available.

    Jimmy,
I think you need to wait until a week before the tournament before canceling (if it’s needed).
It’s still 3 weeks away and alot will change ‘tween now and then.

With all the rain we are getting and more coming will the boat ramps ever open up? There is so much debris floating down and with all the high water do we even want to take a chance of us doing damages to our boats, motors and safety. There are only two weeks till the tournament. I have to agree with Jim postpone till a later date, or cancel.

You guys, I know where all parties are coming from. There are so many variables in the mix here not matter what, the decision is tough. As a club (and I am not the final sayer on this whole matter), we have to take into account many options. 1st, is the safety of the participants. For that I am calling our insurance provider for their input.
Secondly is the water levels, etc. For that I am talking with the Goodhue County Water Patrol and get their input.
Thirdly, we are dealing with launching issues. So far, we cannot get any committment from Red Wing aon being able to use any of the launches as they are closed. Lake CIty is not an option either.
We are going to do our best, but we do not want to have any situations like down a few pools like over the weekend where two anglers capsizd due to debris. They were rescued, but it could have been worse.

    I will keep everyone updated.
