The local Guides have been doing well there the last few years Not sure who the winners are but Briggs owner of the Wigwam and guide and Stay is a guide up there.LOW is a great place to have a Championship tournament but people are going to get tired of seeing these guys cash in year after year.

I understand what you are getting at with the local guy’s having an edge. To bad there isn’t a way to handicap these types of things. Balance out the locals vs the guys who travel. Seems all circuits face the same types of challenges.

Congrats to all those who fish the MTT, I enjoy following the action all summer.

Yes there will be locals on any lake and any tournament but these guys also have a fleet of launch boats out there everyday all summer. That to me is a big edge on a big lake. Not complaining as I dont fish these anymore just my opinion.Maybe in the future they will change things up but the MTT isnt known for change. They still run a good show as far as walleye tournaments go but I can and do see some guys getting discouraged with the LOW championship.Matter of fact I just had lunch with one.

Congrats to all the winners! As Justin said, to everyone that found fish on Friday. I guess I know next year that I need to spend some time prefishing the river. As far as local advantages, LOW has to have one of the least local advantages of any of the other places on the circut. Those charters stick out like a sore thumb so everyone can see where they are everyday. The captains are also on the marine radios all day, so its easy to keep tabs on the bite. As compared to Red Wing, where there are so many factors that come in to play and sometimes locals are fishing out of duck boats in small cuts so they will never be seen. We actually ended up spending most of our time away from other boats during prefishing and found some really nice fish. Like most people, I think if we could have gotten to our day 1 spot we could have done better than the day before.

I’m looking forward to next year!

    You and me both Dan.

I couldn’t agree more that LOW offers the most level playing field out of all the tournament stops and is a great place to host a championship event. I think that if the majority of the boats were able to get out on the lake on day 2, things would have been much more interesting, as alot of teams were on some really nice fish.
