Pitching 1/8 bladebaits and jigs away from the crowds in less than 10 feet of water for us and a couple other teams that I am aware of. Some of the other guys did well dragging deep water for some very nice mix of sauger & eyes.

What a great day to enjoy a day of fishing and thanks to everyone for fishing FYB!

what didn’t work for us was hair jig with minnow and a variety of jigs with plastics, in deep water, shallow water, and everything in between. also, keying in on areas that held lots of active fish all day friday.

but what it did work for, was to catch everything but the walleyes we needed…

sauger, crappies (yes crappies on walleye tackle! wth?), a jumbo perch that is on its way to the taxidermist, a 10 plus pound channel cat, a half dozen small mouth bass (some close to 20 inches), and rough fish. oh, and too many to count saugers and walleyes that were too small to keep.

a great day to be in the tournament? No…

a great day of fishing on the river? Absolutely!

Bryce and I pretty much stuck with Lindy Rigs and minnows most of the day. I did get one decent keeper on plastic. I am not good enough on blades to committ the day the day to one approach. It looks like the people that are consistently catching big fish, week after week, are all good with blades. Congrats to the top teams!
