Team Tournaments

I have never really fished a team tournament, pretty much the FLW League were the Pro supplies all the gear, and have accumalated allot of gear. Well the way the FLW went, I want be doing it anymore. Looking at the team event, FTO, MTT ???

What do you guys do as a Team as far as fishing equiptment, expenses, one guy owns the boat?

If you get a check how do you divide it up?

Rich and I split the costs 50/50 (entry fee, gas pre-fishing and for the tourney, bait for pre-fishing and the tourney) and most of the tourneys we fished together was going to be split 40/60 because it was his boat he would get the higher amount. I used all my own gear except for trolling rods which I didnt have at the time but now own 2 (I also donated 2 trolling rods to Rich’s boat as well) . When we won 1st Rich was kind enough to split the check 50/50 (thank you very much Rich ) anything less than that I dont think would have been split 50/50 which I was completely ok with, it was discussed way before any entry fees were paid and we both fully and completely agreed upon. This will have to be decided mostly between you and whoever you fish with. Good Luck and most importantly have fun FTO is a good series just make sure you buy into all the tourney’s early to get your 10 bonus points them points are very useful come point tally time

Split cost and winnings 50/50. Cost truely isn’t 1/2’ed as I have the truck and boat, which cost me more than the just the fuel, but I would be out fishing anyhow in the same boat so that does not count in my book. Seems that when fishing as a team you end up with more gear than ever, as you don’t mind your partner bringing the kitchen sink.

Better get that prop dialed in for heavy loads…

I used to fish a lot of team tournaments and we split things 50/50 even though we used my boat and my truck. We also split expenses 50/50. I preferred using my boat so I didn’t ask for any additional money for using my boat. My partner also had a boat we could have used so I felt 50/50 was fair. We ended up each bringing our rigs to the tournament for pre-fishing anyways as we could cover a lot more water that way.

One thing I found with team tournaments versus fishing on the boater side is during team tournaments we had a lot more stuff in the boat. We each wanted to bring all of tackle and enough rods for a small army so things got pretty tight in the boat.
