SIDNEY, Neb. – Cabela’s 2009 National Team Championship (NTC) walleye tournament will be held in Devils Lake, North Dakota July 25-26, in conjunction with the Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC) West Division tournament.

“The first Cabela’s NTC was held along with the MWC and the partnership proved to be a great one,” said Chris Sprangers, Cabela’s marketing manager. “We’re really excited to have rekindled this business relationship for the 2009 Cabela’s NTC, the eighth edition of this event.”

The MWC is the longest-running professional walleye tournament circuit in the United States and provides a competitive platform for walleye anglers. The MWC office in Minnetonka, Minn. will handle tournament registration and correspondence with clubs and anglers for both the MWC and NTC. The 2009 MWC entry form will feature a method for entering into the NTC as well. Forms will be mailed in early December. The entry fee for the Cabela’s NTC is $300 per team and the entry fee for the Cabela’s MWC event is $800 per team. Membership is required to fish the MWC side and costs $40 per person.

The NTC, one of the most prestigious walleye tournaments in the country, is considered by many to be the pinnacle of competitive walleye fishing. Teams qualify for the NTC by accumulating points through competition in local tournaments organized by more than 50 sanctioned grass roots walleye clubs across the United States. The field size for the upcoming championship event is expected to be 200 to 225 teams.

Information regarding the 2010 NTC will be released early in 2009.

That will be a lot of fun – Devil’s is a unique lake such that you can find fish to suit your style of fishing and there’s a great population of quality fish in the lake.

Congrats to all who qualified and enjoy!
