The Illinois Walleye Trail started its 11 season on Sunday October 14, 2007 in Hennepin Illinois. The teams arrived at the Hennepin Launch and found the skies had overcast with a chance of rain. Water tempature had dropped down to the mid 60’s over the week with water clarity about a foot.
Randy Carroll from Oswego, Illinois and Lee Scott from Oswego found the fish wanted something a little aggressive and began trolling lead core with shad raps. Randy and Lee won the tournament with a six fish limit weighing 11.69 pounds earning them $1,500.00. Placing 2nd Max Actis and Mike Stuckert from Spring Valley also had a limit of fish scaling 10.42 pounds earning them $770.00 and a 100.00 cerificate from Hennepin Marine as the first Lund Boat in the Money. Rounding out the top three teams were Doug Hoster and John Higgins from Marsallies, Illinois with 6 fish weighing 8.49 and $495.00. Big fish Honors went to the team of Bill Walsh and Julia Kellogg from Ottawa, Illinois with a Sauger weighing 2.60 pounds and $420.00. The next Illinois Walleye Trail tournament will be November 4, 2007 at Henry. This will our fall classic that is an open tournament with 200.00 entry fee and with 50 boats pays 3,000.00 first place. The next Trail Tournament will be November 25, 2007 at Henry, Illinois. Entry fee will be $140.00 and pays 3,500.00 first place based on 100 boat field.
