Whats a good dollar amount for a co anglers been chipping in to help with boaters expensives. I remember a few years ago $20 was mentioned as a common amount. Does that still go? I would think that to be a little low with costs and gas prices today. I have been chipping in $50 each day.

$50 is the upper end. $30-$50, depending on how far you are running…

    Mike,
$20-40.00 is what I have been getting. When we cash checks I will refuse it. It boils down too what ever you feel comfortable with. I have never asked or expected it from my co-angler’s. I am sure that whoever you tip will be happy that you helped with the cost of gas and bait. It is a nice gesture. Good luck in todays Tournament.

$25.00 is typical. You can go more or less depending on how well your boater treats you and is prepared in my opinion. I wouldn’t let the length of the run necessarily factor into your decision though. Some guys are running all over the place because they didn’t pre-fish and are just trying to stumble into fish. You’ll know when that happens. I fished a year as a co-angler in the league events and also fished for two weeks during the Devils Lake tour event two years ago. I have stiffed a couple of boaters who were royal pains in the you know what, and I’ve also chipped in more when it’s called for. I’ve also had some boaters refuse to take any payment at all since they’re writing all of their expenses or their sponsors cover all of the gas. This is probably an exception, rather than the rule though.

Thanks for the input guys. $50 still seem good to me. Glad to hear thats not on the stingy end of things. $50 dollars doesn’t go far when you figure in cost of gas, bait, truck gas, tackle used and lost, and much more. I figure these guys also have some pretty good expenses prefishing. The last thing I want is to feel stingy after spending a day of fishing with someone. What a way to ruin a day on the water.

Hunter. I fish last week with a guy I thought was a little under prepared as far a tackle goes. Thought about leaving him a little less. In the end I left him $50 and figured maybe it would help with more tackle.

    Mike,

Are you just fishing the Tour events this year, or are you jumping in on any of the league events?

Red Wing Tour was all I signed up for. Its close to home and I get 3 days of tourney fishing in one shot. Time just isnt letting me get out as much as I would like to.

I hear you. Too many places too fish and too little time. I do plan on taking Friday afternoons off for the summer, so if you ever need anyone to fish with on Pool 2 let me know. I can’t wait to start hitting those wing dams.
