Wow! There must have been an interesting bite going on:

    7 teams had a 5 fish limit

    2 teams had 2 fish

    4 teams had 1 fish

11 teams were just out there to enjoy the beautiful weather

Without getting into details, it would be interesting to know if it was the “location” or “presentation” that caught the limits?

I was cold shoveling my driveway today and frequently thought of you guys being out there having a good time fishing.

Congratulations to all who fished and survived the FYB today! And thanks to Jon for posting these results so soon after the tourney.

I would like to give Dean a for an excellent job. I bet that I wasn’t the only person thinking, “I hope Dean has hot dogs this year.” I also was wondering if we should call this the freeze your fingers tourney because my butt stayed warm all day, but I think my hands are finally starting to thaw. Here is a picture of my 4.86 Sauger that hit on a good old real minnow.

Thanks and a big to Dean, Mark, Jon, and everyone else who made today a great time!

Hey Dave G! I don’t know what the other teams were doing for presentation; but Marty and I were dragging ringworms the whole day.

well done everyone. Wish I could have made it down there today. Maybe next year. Congrats to the winners. I too would be interested in tactics. Who won the St. Croix drawing?

It was a rough day on the water for us. We got 6 fish all day but 5 were big enough to cash a check. God looks out for children and fools—the boy is getting to old for the first one so I guess that leaves us in the second category. I think we picked up a fish or two vertical jigging plastics and the rest came from dragging various plastics. I think the weather from the last few days played a part in the poor bite today. On a positive note: the weather today was much nicer than they were predicting but it was still cold out there. Where is the picture of Lenny and his trophy?

Sure was a nice day for a boat ride on the river A little a the cool side, 14 degrees when launching the boat.

I was wishing for a cloudly day, we probably spent a little too much time looking for active fish, probably should’ve spent more time working the fish we did find. Had a lot of lookers, no takers.

I’ll probably have to get my truck sorted out before I take the boat out again, seems I either got some really bad gas or I got a coil pack going again, I’m leaning towards the latter of the 2

To add to Joels’ comments…It was apparent to us the fish wanted something moving horizontally through the water column rather than vertical. We actually had a couple runs where we picked up two fish. We had a couple other fish come unglued on their way up to the boat.

Joel and I had the luxury of prefishing for a day and eliminating the non-productive locations and tactics. For the tourney, we just needed to modify our presentation to the light levels and depth.

We were actually surprised nobody saw us going through the same area over and over and over again picking up fish.

    Nice fishen!

I let the dogs out and felt the wind on my face…The Freeze Your Butt tourney seperates the men from the boys!

I think anyone that stayed out past 11 am should have recieved an award.

They kind of did it backwards. The guys that didn’t stay out past 11 got an award. Seems like they got rewarded for being wussy to me.
