I was just kind of curious if every boater in the flw walleye league have kickers on their boats?

Most will. Some of the tiller guys won’t have one but the vast majority of the boats fishing will have a small gas kicker.

Kickers are GREAT for trolling, pulling 3-ways and also backtrolling. And are great on gas mileage. To give you an example: I have a Johnson 8 hp 2-stroke kicker on my boat and can troll all day using only 3 gallons of gas. Now if I were to troll with my Johnson 90 hp 2-stroke all day it would use around 15 gals of gas. With gas prices in the 2.00 plus range and figuring how many years a good kicker will last I figure it pays for itself. Its a MUST in my mind.
    Thanks, Bill

Their a couple of different ways too hang a kicker on. One is too use a rubber mounting pad and clamp it on using the clamps on the motor or mounting the motor too the boat using the clamps and drilling two holes too attach the motor with bolts and nylock nuts. Either ways works. Mine is mounted using the rubber pad.

You can attach a fourstroke kicker too your main tank if their is a extra fuel line connector on the tank or you can connect it using a tee in the main line. A 2 stroke kicker will need its own tank unless it has a oil resevoir under the hood of the engine. Most 2 strokes kickers are not oil injected.
I use my Yamaha T-8 all the time. The best investment on my boat is my kicker.

    Targa,

I mounted mine direct, but will be putting a pro kicker bracket on my next baot. On the WI side of the League, I would say about 90+% of the rigs have kickers on them. Some of the guys running tillers use the big Vantage trolling motors on the back for trolling in conjunction with with the bow mount.

I’m from the LaCrosse area, let me know if you have any questions on open water trolling on Bago or Green Bay. Maybe you can jump in this summer when we make a day trip to Bago during the mud bite.
