Ice Armor pays $1,000 bonus to MWC winners Adams and Klein

Blackduck, MN – New sponsor to the MWC in 2006, Ice Armor came up with a great way to showcase their cold-weather outerwear. At each rules meeting when hundreds of serious tournament fishermen are a captive audience, they display their Ice Armor suits and draw one lucky team to win two. Throughout the year eight teams were chosen, giving 16 lucky anglers new suits. Ice Armor’s promotion didn’t stop there. They added a contingency bonus that would pay an extra $1000 if the Ice Armor winners went on to win the tournament. That happened in July.

New to the MWC, the young anglers of Carl Adams of Blackduck, MN and Ryan Klein of nearby Hines, MN heard their names drawn on that Friday. “Alright!” exclaimed Adams. “We’ve just paid our entry fee back!” Two high-end cold weather suits retail a little more than the $600 entry fee. But the duo went on to cash $12,280 in prize money….and that also netted them the $1,000 Ice Armor bonus.

Ice Team professional Brian “Bro” Brosdahl and MWC director Kristine Houtman presented the duo with their bonus money at the Timberline tackle and sporting goods store in Blackduck. An MWC plaque acknowledging the $1,000 bonus was given to commemorate their unique accomplishment too.

“We have the best line up of sponsors in the industry,” stated Houtman. “They all work to give back to the anglers in some way, shape or form. It is great when they do things like this – and it is noticed by the anglers. Our research shows that MWC anglers are far more likely to choose a sponsor brand over a non-sponsor brand when making a purchasing decision. Since they spend ten times what a normal angler spends, that’s a “win-win” for everyone.”

“The MWC has been a great way for us to showcase this product,” shared Noel Vick, president of Ice Armor. “It was known as great ice fishing gear, but serious tournament anglers know that you need the right equipment in the boat for spring and fall fishing, too – so the word is getting out that it has multiple uses.”

The following teams have won Ice Armor gear during the 2006 season:

Dick Ajster of Ladd, IL and Ken Tonelli of Spring Valley, IL
Robert Blosser and Gary Tomlinson of Poynette, WI
Pete Petros of DeKalb, IL and Dave Landahl of Geneva, IL
Edward Michniewicz of Fox Lake, IL and Bill Damron of Antioch, IL
Carl Adams of Blackduck, MN and Ryan Klein of Hines, MN
Jeff Koester of Brookville, IN and Scott Rhodes of Traverse City, MI
Mark and Cathy De Deker of Larsen, WI
Nate Capton of Niagara Falls, NY and Dave Waldeck of Sanborn, NY
