This is a hard post to write. That’s why I have been putting it off.
When James and I sat down and talked about running a tournament circuit we had a couple goals in mind. One – It would be well run and Two – we would try to grow it! Unfortunately, we didn’t get both done. We feel we ran a great little tourney, but we didn’t get the growth we needed to keep it going. The economics are pretty simple, we were not getting enough teams to cover our costs. We will no longer be running a walleye tournament circuit. The 2006 season is officially over.
IDA team of the year is Glenn Marshall and Jeff Stephensen for their 1st and 2nd place finishes this year, IDA will make sure to get those “Team of the Year” plaques out to you guys ASAP. Congratulations and thanks for fishing with us all of these years.
Wow! That was hard. I sit here with great memories from all the tourneys. All those big fish and big baskets. There is no better group of tourney guys anywhere in the country. No matter if it was sub freezing or near 100 degrees out, you guys brought in some nice bags.
Well, there ya have it. If there are any questions, concerns or comments please feel free to post or PM me.
On a side note. I have been talking with Dean Marshall at Everts Resort. We are tossing around the idea of having a fall (Early November) sauger tournament based on the “Freeze your Butt” format. Low entry, have fun kinda event. Look for details soon.
Thanks,
