The WWA 2005 National Championship Tournament is underway out of Hudson, Wisconsin on the St. Croix River. The Banquet and rules meeting was held on Thursday night where all qualifiers had a great meal and received their WWA Championship jackets. It rained steady Thursday and it was no different on the first day of the tournament on Friday the 12th. Despite the very wet conditions the Team of Ed and Dustin Klepacki weighed in five fish that tipped the scales at 12.11 pounds for First Place after day one. They also garnered Big Fish honors with a nice fish weighing 6.93 pounds. Right on their heals in Second Place with five fish weighing 10.66 pounds is the team of Ed Michniewicz and Tony Nelson. Breathing down their necks in Third Place with five fish weighing in at 10.56 pounds is Pat Seibert and Dave Limke. The top three teams all qualified from the WWA Illinois Division. With day two (the final day) coming tomorrow everyone was tight lipped about what they were doing. With less than two pounds separating the top three teams it should be an exciting finish. Conditions for tomorrow (Saturday the 13th), is forecast for steady rain again. All but one team who qualified are fishing the Championship. Good Luck on day two everybody.
