Two pros were disqualified from the tournament for inadvertently going faster than “no-wake” through no-wake zones. The PWT penalty was a disqualification from the competition for not abiding by this rule. They were Jeff Taege, Rhinelander, Wis., and Bruce Samson, Minnetrista, MN . Both pros will be returning for the Super Pro event at Chamberlain, SD.

I was wondering what it would take from them to enforce this. How bad would you need to be pushing wake.

The question was asked last fall at the FLW League finals about the no wake zone. It’s posted to stay under 5 MPH, so someone asked if they can go just under 5 MPH and be legal. The answer was that you can’t push a wake.

I’ll be interested to hear what they actually were doing when they got busted.

In this case they ran them on plane. Jeff did not realize it was a no wake zone and blew through it. I don’t know about Bruce. But, no Wake means no Wake. They don’t just DQ you for creating a little wake, it has to be a gross violation. But, all the anglers were warned prior to the tournament that they would be DQ’d for the entire tournament if they blew a no wake zone. So far two have been caught and I guess they are watching it really close.
