I’m heading out to Pre-Fish Petenwell for the FLW Walleye League tourney this weekend. Any IDAers fishing this event? Good luck to all as it should be a tough bite as normal. See you on the water

It has indeed been a tough bite. The east wind that has been blowing the last few days along with the high pressure system has not helped. As the week progresses the wind is supposed to change to south and south/west so those fish in the river and the north end of the lake should begin to snap again.

I had been hoping the wind would stay like this. I think that the south s/w winds will make it a crap shoot for all the boats in the river. The East wind would level the playing field. The slot is hard to overcome on this lake too. You can sometimes catch 100 fish in a day and none of them will be legal. Sometimes you catch 20 fish and they’re all legal.

    We’ll see what happens.

You are right, the slot is the biggest obstacle in this tournament, but has improved the fishery to some extent in regards to large fish and future large fish. I do believe there is an extensive harvest of 15″-20″ fish during Ice fishing and early spring. This also makes it tough from a tournament standpoint. It will be interesting. As always, in this tournament, someone is on them. My gut tells me that some good limits will be caught this year.
    Good luck out there.
