If I understand the co-angler contingency award requirements, all I would need to show is a Ranger registration in my name. No requirement about being the original owner or year.

Has anyone thought of buying a used (condition wouldn’t matter) Ranger to be eligible for the extra cash? It may be an idea for a 2nd boat.

yeah, in fact my buddy is planning on purchasing a 1982 ranger for under $1000 just to become eligible

Well at $1,000 you’d have a hard time even breaking even, unless you were lucky enough to win a couple of tournaments. Even then you probably wouldn’t get close to earning the $1,000 back. Two wins on the regular tournaments would only earn $500 in contingency money. If you’re lucky enough to draw two winning boaters, I’d recommend taking your money straight to Vegas.
