Just a reminder that Four Season’s Sports and the Frontenac Sportsman’s Club will be holding their 2nd Annual Mississippi Gold Team Tournament September 17th & 18th out of Lake City. Boundaries are Pool 3 & Pool 4. Cost is $310 per 2 person team ($10 goes into a conservation fund and will be donated to the local fisheries for research and habitat improvement). We will NOT be accepting entries after September 12th, so ensure you get your entries in soon. If you need an entry, or have any questions, you can email me at [email protected]. Otherwise you can call me at 651-345-5035.

    Respectfully,

    Jim,

Just wondering if you have any results for this tourney?

    Thanks

    Dustin,
The tournament was cancelled due to a small number of boats. With the MWC returning next September, it was probably going to be tough for the Sportsmans club to build this tournament.

Steve is correct. We decided to cancel the tournament due to the lack of participants. In talking with the anglers, the gas prices really hit hard when entries were due. As we found out, Mother Nature can play a big role across the country, no matter where disasters hit.
The concept behind the Mississippi Gold Team Tournament was to always have a permit available when the MWC comes back. We still have the permit secured for the MWC tournament next year, even though we had to cancel this tournament. Next year with the MWC coming back, we will not be holding the Mississippi Gold tournament. In the years the MWC does not come to Lake City, we will fire this tournament up again.
I especially want to thank all the anglers who did sign up and understood why we cancelled. Every one of the teams totally understood and repected the decision. For that the Frontenac Sportman’s Club is grateful and strengthens our thoughts on why we enjoy putting tournaments on for all you anglers.

Thanks guys . I was out on that Sunday and only saw 2 other boats on the upper end of the river. Made me wonder if the tourney boats all headed for the south end.
