Just got back into town from Cass Lake a few hours ago and let me tell you it was one tough bite out there! Out of 56 boats 43 of them brought fish to the scale and out of those 43 only 11 teams brought in a limit of 5 fish. View all the results here. You can check out all of the League Tour Standings for all three divisions here.
My boater for the day was Steve Fields from Rochester, I happen to know Steve but had never had the opportunity to fish with him before so it was nice to spend a day on the water with him. Steve and I ended up in 26th place 6 places out of the money, we only managed 1 fish but it was a decent one, 3.13lbs which earned us both 175 points each out of a possible 200, so I am very happy with that. Steve is now sitting in 16th place on the boater side and I am in 13th place on the co-angler side so we are both happy campers, the top 35 will go on to the finals! A bunch of us got together at the Pike Hole bar after the rules meeting on Friday night, it was great to meet some of the people here on the site and put the name with the face. Congrats to all the teams that finished in the money, a job well done in such tough conditions!
Unfortunately I was not able to get any pictures this time out as my camera went on the fritz!!! I do not know if it can be repaired or not I will probably have to buy a new one.
I would like to also send out congratulations to Toby K who finished in 6th place on the boater side, Toby and I fished together at the first FLW Walleye League Tournament out of Bay City. Way to go Toby!!!
See everyone on July 30th at Lake Bemidji.

I think the guy that won is a local guide. He waxed us a couple years ago at GNWC, winning the first 3 events.

Congrats to Heidi(walleye-brat) for her first $ finish in her young tournament career!!!
    Stickboy also cashed a check.

It was a toughy…I ended up in 26th place as well with a 3 pound 13 ounce fish. I had the pleasure of getting partnered with Jason Sullivan who is also an IDA’er as my coangler. We had a fun day even though fish catching was a little suspect(literally and figuratively ) but I think the one fish we got put him into 14th place in the standings on the Co-Angler side so he should make it to the championship.

John is a great instructor and very patient. I wasn’t pulling my weight and he didn’t seem to get upset with me. I was very happy to put some points on my tally.

Thank you for a fun day in the boat.

Don’t sell yourself short…you did a great job. You learned a new fishing technique and you got it to work, wrong species but the fact that you caught them says you were doing it right.
Most importantly you got that fish in the net that got us the points we need to ensure a trip to Winona for both of us. It was a tough bite and you stuck with it all day and didn’t let the frustration get to you.
I’ll take you as a partner any day……even though you are a Bulldog fan.
    GO GOPHERS!!!!!!

John is a great instuctor. just take a look at the way he molded the brat, I would be happy to have her as a co-angler
Also I might add a good team member too, The spot where I caught my fish and probally lost the winning fish or top 5 for sure we had prefished and jonh came up with some nice fish in that area and put a good patern together, For me I had to switch baits with the same presintation and got lucky about 2:15 with a nice 26″er. My co-angler hooked into one abot 3:05 that was defiatly larger and it came unbutoned just out of reach of the net . Thats fishing, see you in bemiji

Gophers ==> AKA Ground Carp. How can any self-respecting person cheer for a team named after a rodent?

It was fun meeting up with you guys at Pug Holes on Friday night, except for the fact it took nearly and hour and a half to get our food. I’m glad I only ordered an appetizer!

I had the pleasure of fishing with Riggin Guy. He was on a lot of fish, but they just wouldn’t go for some reason. It was a fun day in the boat nonetheless, and got me back in the hunt for the championship. I need the rest of you to make sure you don’t boat a fish in Bemidji, and I’m a lock

    P.S. GO SIOUX!!!

    Thanks Jim for the comment.

It was great to meet all that came to eat at the bar on Friday night. The service was slow but the company at the table made up for it.

The fishing was tough.Jim and I had a good idea on where the fish were and what they wanted, but they still were very finnicky. My partner and I lost quite a few bites ourselves. We still made the best of things and had a good time joking around after catching the first fish.

Jim caught the most fish while prefishing. The East wind played a major factor on what happened to his fish.I really had believed and hoped he was going to win.Maybe Bemidji!

Good job to all who gave Cass their best. The fish were impressive on the quality in size.By the way stickboy you could of thrown that fish into my live well that was a nice fish.

    Hey John,

Way to go man! Seeing 2 of the 3 of you on top is pretty neat. Makes me wish I was fishing with you guys this year. Maybe next year. We won’t mention where the third guy is at . Someone needs to help find fish right? Good luck to you guys on the last one!
