Lake Erie Tournament Postponed
By Steve Weisman

Based on the forecast of 5-7 foot waves, Grand National Walleye Cup
Executive Director Bernie Barringer has made the decision to postpone the
Lake Erie Tournament scheduled for Saturday, April 30 at Huron, OH.
“The forecast has steadily gotten worse each day, and the Coast Guard is
expecting small craft advisories both Saturday and Sunday based on the
current forecast,” said Barringer.
“This is always a tough call, but the safety of the teams fishing our
tournaments is paramount.”
This is the updated forecast as of Thursday morning for the Huron, OH
area. For Saturday, east winds 15 to 25 knots becoming west and increasing
to 30 knots. Showers and thunderstorms likely during the day and showers
likely at night. Waves 4 to 6 feet building to 5 to 7 feet. On Sunday, west
winds 10 to 20 knots. Chance of showers. Waves 3 to 5 feet.
Barringer noted that the Lake Erie Tournament would be rescheduled
probably in July. “We really want to offer the Ohio Region a Lake Erie
tournament. We will probably move the tournament farther to the east to
follow the summer pattern.”
Barringer encourages interested anglers to contact him at 1-800-890-FISH
