I just got home from Spring Valley Il, where I fished my first MWC Tournament. What a Blast!
We didnt end up doing very well but I had a great time fishing the Illinois River. We got there Tuesday night, and prefished Wed thru Friday. Wednesday, we started trolling covering water and looking for fish, and we trolled for hours with 2 or 3 fish. These fish all weighed around 3pds. But that wasnt enough fish! We jigged a bit but only small fish for us. So Thursday we spent a large part of the day handling with a few fish but on the small side again and jigging the same thing. Well Friday we hit are spots with fish! and spent A bit of time at each with everything happening the same trolling hours of nothing then a fish, jigging a small one here and there, handlines small. So Friday night we decided we were trolling and if we saw jiggers catching WE WERE STILL TROLLING.

Saturday All day……..long we worked 2 differt spots with One fish for are efforts I mean we groundem, when I try to transfer my trails to map create its going to look like a blacktop highway going down two parts of the Illinois River.

Saturday night I talked to my uncle who was fishing one of the same spots we were.(Scott Mann and partner Bob Bodin) they were in 6th place trolling up 15 pds …..
We decided to leave them to that spot for Sunday and hit are other spots.
We heard where the leading weight was but we decided we were not going to play bumper boats and raid someones spot yet we caught some fish trolling just south of them. We fished north of Spring Valley on Sunday for most of the day and 0.
I really wish we would have spent a few more days prefishing! But I cant wait for next year!!

If it was just a little warmer…water temp arourd 43 I KNOW we would have done alot better.

We will definatly be spending more time at Bago!!!

Congrats to Randy Carroll and Ed Klein 34.74pds Nice Work Guys!!
