Salmo Lures Join MWC Family of Sponsors

MINNETONKA, MN – The Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit, or MWC, has been a
driving force in team walleye tournament fishing for over 20 years. This
prestigious tournament trail consists of six qualifying events and a
championship. For the 2005 season, the MWC is proud to announce that Salmo
Performance Fishing Lures will be joining the other long-term MWC sponsors
who have made this one of the most successful team tournament trails in the
    country.
Salmo Performance Fishing Lures, are made in Poland and in 15 years have
risen to be the #2 crankbait company in Europe. Salmo Lures are famous for
their life-like finishes and reliable performance. Names like the Hornet,
Sting, Bullhead, Teno, Perch, Minnow and Chubby Darter will soon become
common to walleye anglers who want to use the best designed crankbaits in
    the world.
“Salmo is so proud of lures we build, we offer a Performance Guarantee on
all of our lures,” stated Tom Zenanko, VP of Sales and Marketing for
Salmo-USA which is based in Minneapolis. “If at any time your Salmo lures
fails to run true or breaks, we will replace it free of charge. I know the
Salmo name will be new to most anglers in the USA, but in Europe and around
the world, they are very well respected. We hope that our support of the MWC
will get us off to a big start with serious walleye anglers.”
“We are very happy to add Salmo to our MWC family of sponsors. It is
exciting to know that Salmo Lures will be using the MWC to target their
great products at the walleye marketplace,” noted Kristine Houtman, Director
of Events & Sponsorships for the MWC. “The MWC anglers will now be exposed
to a completely new product line of high quality crankbaits – and we hope
they embrace it – test it out – and spread the word from there.”
“I have fished MWC events in the past and know MWC anglers are very
particular about their lures, demanding the highest quality and performance
in the products they use” stated Zenanko. “We think the walleye world will
be blown away by Salmo. In fact, it already has developed a kind of a cult
following with some walleye anglers now.” With over 700 models to choose
from, Salmo will soon be a dominate player in the United States marketplace.

Any of you guys been dragging Salmos around during the summer. I brouse threw there product catalog once and awhile but have never gotten farther than that. They look interisting.

Looks like they have a few more products listed on there web site than what is in the catalog. Pricing looks a little step on it. Maybe Im just cheap but $6 to $8 for a shad style crank bait seems a little high.

Mike I must agree It seems more and more bait makers think they can charge $11-$14 for baits. I don’t have that kind of money who do they think we are Bass fisherman?

I hope this is not the trend, if so I’ll have to take out a loan or sell one of the kids. I was just getting used to them.

I HAVE A LOT OF SALMO STUFF FOR MUSKIES, I HAVE FOUND A FEW OF THEIR BAITS ARE HARD TO BEAT. THEY HAVE A FEW CRANKS THAT WORK VERY WELL AS JERKBAITS, AS WELL AS CRANKS. I DON’T HAVE MUCH IN THE WALLEYE DEPARTMENT FOR SALMO GEAR, THE CHUBBY DARTER IS A GREAT BAIT FOR ICE FISHING FOR BOTH WALLEYES AND PERCH.

Maybe the price difference is in where they are made. Pradco makes some nice crank baits and seems to manage to keep there prices near $1 or less than Rapala, Yozuri, Salmo. Pradco’s prices made it easy to purchase there lures when I was unfamilar with them. Not so easy to buy a $8 crank bait to see if it works. Now give me some free ones to start with and if they work I might fill a box.
They do look to have some nice styles and colors. Not sure if I have seen a large selection in the stores around here.

Thorne Brothers on University Ave has a good selection of Salmo lures, you can also get them at Trails End on Central, I think you have to order them out of the catalog there.
