Great job nick. . What a good year and a great way to end the season
Way to go Nick. It is great to see a local river rat get it done.

Congrats to Nick !!
and to Scott Steil and Jarrad Fluekiger for placing in the $$
Hey you guys!! Thanks for all the support, it is really appreciated. The experience has been unbeleivable. I think my feet finally touched the ground for the first time today!!! I really could not have done this without the input and knowledge from two very special people, Joe Wilson and Curt Poquette. I could not have asked for a better partner to travel and fish with than Joe his computer knowledge and background work leading up to this tournament were an unbeleivable asset to me. Curt came down and prefished with me for four days and played a very important part in establishing my pattern. I really do owe a big THANK YOU!!! to these two guys they mean a lot to me. I also would like to thank everyone else for all the support it means so much to know you guys are pulling for me. Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!
Nick Johnson
Congratulations Nick!!!
From what John tells me, it went to one of the best.
Congratulations Nick! What was the winning pattern, if I may ask? I fished with Joe W. a couple weeks in advance, and could not put a consistant pattern together. Joe definetly is a great guy though. I met him the day we fished together. We found some fish then, but everything had changed by tourney time. We had fun and I learned some about those nasty little kittys!
Congrats!!!!!!!!!
I was so glad to hear that you won….you had a good year and this is a great way to finish.
You are the kind of pro every co-angler hopes to get paired with, great fisherman….and a great guy.
John Blanchard
Congratulations Nick! You deserved the win and recognition. You have always have been and will continue to be a top notch competitor.

Congratulations Nick,
I still remember seeing the look on your face when you noticed your boat sinking on day one of the Devils Lake tournament.
Glad to see your hard work and some major determination turn a urine poor start to a day into something great.
If I remember correctly, you and Buckshot ended up in first place at the end of that day. Now it appears as though you rode that wave all the way to the finish line.
Congratulations again on a fabulous year of fishing!

Congrats Nick.
I enjoyed fishing with you at Port Clinton this year. Hope you don’t hold it against me that that was the only cut you didn’t make!
If I had known you were going to do so good this year, I would have had you sign my hat or something. If you ever get up to Mille Lacs, give me a call and I’ll take you out for a day!
Dustin was keeping me up-to-date by phone on how you and a couple other guys were doing while I was on Mile Lacs. I was thrilled to hear that you took home the whole ball o’ wax! Congrats.
I wonder how many willow cats a guy could buy up and stash with $300K?… lol
Congrats Nick, it was a deserving win. You put together a good program in a bad bite. Nice Job man!!
Congratulations Nick on a title well deserved! Good things come to those that are persistent and work hard.
Again, congrats!

This was in today’s LAX TRIB: CONGRATS
NASCAK CASHES IN: Ranger pro Nick Johnson of Elmwood, Wis., caught four walleyes weighing 6 pounds, 9 ounces Saturday to win the $1.4 million Wal-Mart RCL Walleye Championship on the Mississippi River near Moline, Ill.
However, Richard Nascak of Winona, Minn., also cashed in, winning $12,500 with an 11th place finish.
“This is the second time in three years that I made the cut,” said Nascak, who finished fifth and won $25,000 in 2002.
Johnson, who qualified for the championship as the 10th ranked angler on the 2004 Wal-Mart RCL Walleye Tour, took home $300,000 n the largest first-place award in walleye tournament fishing.
Other La Crosse area anglers also won money. Robert Lampman of De Soto, Wis., finished 18th and won $3,300 in the Pro Division. Holmen’s Steve Tauscher won $1,800 with a 91st place finish while David Gary Bauer of Winona and Mike Jungwirth of Arcadia, Wis., each won $1,500.
Michael Nascak of Winona, finished 128th and Colleen Lampman from De Soto, 151st, in the Co-Angler Division, but failed to win any money.
Way to go Nick!!!! You did a great job in a terrible bite,
We are sure sorry the water was so dirty and the fishing slow but you showed it could still be done,Great to have a IDA guy win it
I watched the championship on FLW outdoors last night…..It was pretty exciting…once again..Congrats
I watched it on TV last night also. I thought they did a great job of describing all the different techniques that were used. They also explained the risk that Nick had to take going through all those locks and cutting his fishing time in half. I don’t and I am sure most people don’t know everything that goes into winning one of these events, but the TV coverage gave a great insite into how hard it really is. I hope the sport keeps getting more and more TV coverage like this.
I thought it was great to show how proud Nick’s dad was. Nick’s and his dad must have a great relationship. The coverage was good.It was neat to see Rick and how he was handlining, never seen that myself.

Anyone have this on tape? I would love to see it, especially on my home waters, but it is not broadcast in my area .
If not they I think they will have the tape for sale soon on the RCL site. Thanks, Bill
Thanks Bill! I did not know they sold the tapes. I’ll check the site from time to time, gotta see that video!
