I have not seen any information or sign up for the Pooh Bear tournament. I assume it is June 7th. I was running late last year and did not address the envelope to get the registration form so I need an entry form. Anyone have the information?

Thanks Usually someone posts all the information here. It is one of my favorite tournaments of the year. The banquet afterwards is a blast and the meal is awesome. This is a great tournament for anyone looking to fish their first tournament—-it is low key and kid friendly!!!

Any results from the pooh bear tourney yesterday?
Don’t know the results but CONGRATS Redneck for taking 1st place
It was not so nice weather in the morning.June 9, 2014 at 11:00 am #1415014Thanks Andy! It took 18.3 pounds to win it. There was a two way tie for second with 10.7 pounds. The weather in the morning was definitely interesting. My boy won this one—I was just along for the ride

June 9, 2014 at 8:02 pm #1415120Redneck thanks for fishing it and my dad who also helps run the event said he talked to you after.
How did you like the #’ed flight over the shot gun start… we did that to stay ahead of the curve and keep it safe and FUN.
June 10, 2014 at 3:37 am #1415142I was in shock after the tournament and have no idea who I talked to. My boy and I have been fishing tournaments for many years now and this is the first win for us as a team and his first victory. Funny thing is this tournament was the first one we ever fished and I have fished it every year since he was 12 or so. He missed a couple years for his military commitment but otherwise he has been there about every year. I walked around with tears in my eyes when I figured out we had really won it.
I thought the start was the slickest thing I have seen in a long time. I hope it is the same next year!!!! The meal afterwards was great as usual and the trophy was very cool!!! Everyone who saw it was very impressed.June 10, 2014 at 10:25 am #1415212Way to go Team Redneck
Glad to see some of the local guys who put their time in do well, and could not have happened to a better couple guys.
Care to share any info on techniques that put the fish in the boat?
June 10, 2014 at 11:25 am #1415223I think it is a good story so glad to tell ya Farmboy. We anchored up on a lake point first thing and by noon had 5 fish in the box between 15 and 19 inches. I figured we had around 8 pounds or so. I had hooked a bigger fish in the spot pre-fishing so I was hoping they would come back through. We were casting live bait and jigs. This tournament allows a 2 man limit in the boat so we didn’t have to worry about second guessing ourselves. The boy started talking about going to look for big fish. I told him the spot was holding fish and I thought we had a shot at a kicker fish. He kept telling me his gut said we should go looking for bigger fish and about 1:10 or so after not having a decent bite in over an hour I said what the heck. He took off and went to one of his favorite spots on the lake. We were 3 waying live bait and within about 15 minutes he catches a 22 incher—then another one. By now I am not questioning his gut anymore and he puts a 20 incher in the box. Somewhere in the mix I got a 24 and he got another 21 or so. In less than an hour we put the 5 fish we ended up weighing in the box–all on his gut feeling. We have been working on his tournament decision making the last few years and I think I need to step back and let him do more. I was one proud Dad at the weigh in and I had tears in my eyes that his first victory came with the old man in the boat.
I pre-fished Thursday and Friday and never caught a fish on cranks. We fished live bait all day on tournament day. That being said the weather Saturday morning put the fish in a funk and I think that helped our cause. It was one of the strangest finishes to any tournament I have ever been involved in and it will stay with me the rest of my days. I am one proud Dad and am perfectly happy with the boy carrying me from now on
