Has there been any buzz about the MTT 2 day event scheduled to be fished on Mille Lacs.
I am sure the lake will be closed to any harvest at that point and it could actually be closed to fishing all together.
    1. Any idea if they would cancel it or move it?
    2. If moved any idea as to what the possiblities might be?
They already have the other two day on Winnie, so I guess I would be surprised if it was there. I guess time will tell…

I know there was talk of the same thing last year. If I remember correctly there was talk about moving it to a different body of water. I don’t think there was any confirmed plans though.
As for this year I believe it will be a wait and see what happens.

Hey Eric have you herd or seen if coville is thawing at all? if not there are pretty good possibilities of the April tourney being canceled.

Lots of time b/w now and then. Lots of water to come down and get rid of that ice! Fingers crossed!

you can keep your fingers crossed all you want but with three of the next ten days having lows in the single digits and at least half of those days never getting above freezing…. it is not looking good unless some one takes a chain saw and fire extinguisher to the coville marina/landing lol!

At the end of last season Mike had said we will go to mille lacs and stick to the plans. Really hoping they make some changes.

I went past the lower entrance to Coville last weekend. It was open to about half way back in the shoot towards the docks. I would assume there is some pretty good ice right by the landing though.

Im fairly certain we will have a open landing to use somewhere, just the matter of where.

The tourny is licensed through mn so the would have to launch from a mn landing. That leaves bay point and coville as options, both of which are froze pretty good. Are there any other landings they could use?

Couldn’t it still be hosted there and launch else where? Several of the tournaments last year we launched at other landings and did check in by boat.

I agree. I wonder what will be done if sticking to the plan is not an option. If the lake is closed to all harvest before August; Does that mean they just cancel? That would surprise me with the money that gets invested. I won’t be fishing at pool 4 this year so if Mike addresses this I would appreciate any updates if someone does not mind coming back to this thread.

I would think if Mille Lacs was closed in August that they would go to Winnie again. It’s really too bad what is happening at Mille Lacs.

I’m no river expert, but I bet colville will be open in 3 weeks.

it should be….. but if we keep getting all these single digit nights we are not going to be budging it much but as shallow as the bay is at coville it would only take a few really warm days to do some serious damage to the ice…. as far as the lake goes I’m betting that that will not be open with 30″ still covering most of it.

Last year with the talk of hitting the mark at Mille lacs. Mike said it would move to Winnie again. I assume the same if this happens again this year.
