Anyone have a good feel for what is going on for Walleye tournaments on Mille Lacs in June? I know the MTT is on the first weekend what else?

June 6th and 7th Hunters Point Extravaganza and June 21&22nd Hunters Point Invitational. Not 100% certain if they will continue in 2014.

    Aim tourney dates?

I think the 13-15th of june would be good dates for a AIM on Mille lacs.

I think the 8th and 9th would be a good weekend. Some of the Mille Lacs regulars will be at Winnibigosh the next weekend for the MTT tournament. Maybe it could be run with the Extravaganza.

I was thinking the other day, if this is designed to be more of a weekend angler event maybe they should be only one day events. I personally won’t fish a multi day tournament without atleast a couple days of prefishing so that turns into a 4 day weekend. If they were Sunday only events a person wouldn’t have to use any vacation time and they could get a day of prefishing in.

Brett (or anybody else) can you explain how it works. Do you enter with a teammate or do you enter individually and get paired with somebody via a draw?

That would open up Sunday the 22nd because the Hunters tournament is Friday and Saturday. The 15th is Fathers Day. I like what I hear.

You will bring your own partner. Whats the general thought about Father`s day weekend?

I wouldn’t be able to fish it. Just my 2 cents though.

Some of the mille lacs regulars might not go to Winni if there is a CPR tourney at mille lacs. This curcit might put some of the others out business. Its going to make a guy think really hard about which ones he wants to fish.

I know last year they had a walleye tournament on fathers day weekend for the Carpenters union. I do believe they plan on running another one next summer. I believe they want to run at least 100 boats on that tournament.

Really liking what I’ve been hearing about this format so far, especially the one day Sunday tournaments. I like the 8th or 15th weekends myself, but whatever weekend you guys choose, I’ll be there.

To many graduations in the early part of June. I’d put it in the back half of June if you want draw as many people as you can. The Leech Lake Chamber event is the weekend after Labor day so there is a fair amount of your potential entrants, and not everyone can fish two events two weekend in a row, and Fathers day can be an issue all it’s own.

Late June Brett, late June. The bite should be real strong on the mud then too even if we have another crappy spring.

For those of us traveling/fishing the NWT event on Oahe, the weekend of the 21st and the 28th are bad.

I gotta say Bryon and I have been looking for something like this for some time. Since MWC had 3 MN lakes we fish we are thinking about taking the leap. However, we can’t take a week off to prefish and aren’t quite that ‘big time’. We love the competition even if we lose. We thought about doing the MTT too. We fish a small time tournament here and there, but miss out on the point accumulation/championship/playoff type rush. I REALLY like this AIM format. We don’t know these lakes as well – but with a Sunday tournament we can take off Friday – get 2 days of prefishing in and maybe get lucky. The price is right to give it a go. It’d be fun to fish some of the big AIM MN pros if they show up and mingle. We’ve fished as Co’s on the NWT and they always seem nice. I’m really hoping the tournament pro’s can bring some exposure. Also I’d like to see some Lund/Yamaha contingencies – that would differenciate from some of the other big circuits. Warrior as a sponsor is really cool. I have a Lund now but I might move to fiberglass and would definitely consider Warrior. I like the idea of MN/WI separate – but would like to see a rotating championship that’d take the top x teams from each state. Maybe it can expand to ND/SD or IL/MI or something. Maybe most total weight per state gets to host or something (Maybe Greenbay and Erie would have to be handicapped at 80%! LOL).

Or maybe the total weight for all the champ teams per state are weighed and they get to host championship next year.

Brandon, the way I understand the schedule is that they will take the top 10 teams from each state championship and they will fish in a championship in the spring of 2015. I believe they said it will be a no entry event with a boat for 1st place.

Ok that is awesome. Like in nascar when the big race is at the beginning of the year.

I’m digging this format more and more each time I hear about it.

Anyone have an idea when we can expect some more formal information to come out such rules, entry forms and take off/weigh in locations?

I was told at the NPAA meeting that the rest of the details should be out within a month.

One thing that has been missed so far, is that the winner of each event will receive a free entry to the Oconto pro/pro/co event as part of the winners package. I fished this event two years ago and it’s a pretty exciting event.
