FLW or AIM?

I’d really like to start fishing walleye tournaments next year as a co-angler. I have fished quite a few local bass tournaments over the years, but never walleye. I’ve read all the specifics on the FLW and AIM websites. Does anyone have any personal experience with either of these tournaments??

Obviously, as a co-angler, you can’t win money in the AIM. However, I’m sure I could “win some knowledge” from the pros. How difficult is is to get into these tournaments as a co-angler? Waiting around on the wait list just won’t work for my schedule.

I’ve fished one Flw. And like you, I was more interested in doing it as a learning experience the the paycheck. Two days in a boat with two different pros I learned the small things that make them Pros like they’re called. The nice thing about the Flw is you could be like me catch some good draws and win the co angler side. I pocketed $6000 for first place last year on Leech as an added bonus to the things I learned. I don’t think you can go wrong either way but the Flw could put some money in your pocket. Pm me with any more questions.

Think the learning experience would be benificial in either.
My advise would be wait for schedules to be released, and go with the ones/ones that would be best geographically, and maybe on waters you’d like to go to again.

Maybe take into considerations such as bodies of water they will be fishing.
Example: Lake Erie in April can be a real SOB and always a good chance you might be restricted to dry land for a day or 4.
Regardless of your decission, you’ll learn alot and have alot of fun doing it!

Fished the pool 4 FLW event in April. I learned a ton from the pro the first day. The second day my pro didn’t have much experience river fishing. Definitely worth the experience just to see pool 4 for the first time.

My plan is pretty much what Mike West posted, see what the schedule looks like and consider signing up as a co on the water that interests you.

One thing to keep in mind is that there is a limited number of co angler slots. I was number 11 singed up for Red Wing and didn’t know for sure that I was going to fish until the week before.
