Sounds like a great way to tournament fish. Allows for better competition and less stress on a resource.

Would you be willing to play a few hundred $’s and be willing to take the word of 100’s of other fishermen on the length of and how many fish they caught. If so I am sure there are a lot of not so honest people who are looking forward to fishing with you in a tourney. For some reason $ bring out the worst in some people.

Its a Pro/Am format. The Cheater Pro would need to be paired with a Cheating Armature for 3 days. (New pairing each day) The odds of that scenario happening has to be several million to one. Then if caught, lose the opportunity to ever fish in a professional tournament again. I just don’t see it ever happening at AIM.

    Hey FT,
Maybe you should pay the co-angler fee and see how much you learn and how little opportunity to cheat there really is.

You also have to take a picture of the fish on a ruler and I believe they supply the pic chip and maybe even the camera. You would have a hard time cheating that system.

LOL I wondered how long it take to get a reacting post like this….LOL

I think if you read this from the take of a tourney angler at Lake Mille Lacs, you would know what I meant. From a competition standpoint, this format shines versus the gamble it takes to compete succesfully with the tight slot and no culling rules in place. I meant nothing negative toward the event promoters presently or in the past at Lake Mille Lacs. They are run well. My point, maybe wrongly worded, was about a much better format–for the angler and the lake.

To those who are worried about cheating? I can tell you that it is almost impossible to cheat in this format. Unlike the culling that goes on in the present day format used here.

Anyone with questions or concerns should call the AIM office as to how exactly the format works. http://www.aimfishing.com/

In the end, no fish are brought to the scales to die. No fish are tossed around all day in a livewell to die. And ALL the big fish you catch count! And you can “cull” all day!

Let’r rip! Those 27 7/8th” fish will count on the scoreboard! No if’s and’s or but’s….with this game.

I am bias though….I helped build this company from the start. 7 veteran walleye Pro’s did this…and then brought in share-holders/partners to build it to where it is today. That was 4 years ago…

I am ribbing you Steve….. I would honestly say AIM format is a “more better” tourney…. don’t know that I would call any tourney circuits “bad ones” specifically

I did not catch that it was a pro-am format. I know there are afew other tourneys using this same format in single fishermen events. I guess I am just not trusting enough to participate is such a event

I remember a certain angler that caught multiple 28″-30″ walleyes in a 1994 Tournament on lake of the Woods. But, maybe only one of the fish counted due to the slot at the time. If that was a photo event that angler would have won goin’ away…right Steve?

    Who was that PWT Angler?

    Steve?

Anyway Steve is right the AIM format is awesome for walleyes!

Thanks for posting Mr. Fellegy…this would be great! I’d sign up on the Pro side in a heartbeat as I’m sure many other Mille Lacs Tournament anglers would as well to compete against the top Pro’s in the country and some big $$$.

I fished the 2010 AIM Championship on Winnie as a Co-Angler to see what the format was like and it’s awesome…especially on a slot fish lake. I thought the weigh in might be a little boring but nothing was farther from the truth. With the jumbo tron screens and production they put on, it’s very exciting and interesting.

I’d sure love to see an AIM stop on the Mille Lacs for the 2013 season! I think a guy would have to get a card full of 26’s and 27’s every day to stay in the mix. It would be a blast to have these fish count, plus returning them safely to the lake at the same time!

Funny–we just talked about that ’94 event the other day. (that big fish scenario in my boat is all on film too) The 2nd day, my biggest was 30.5″ and I had to put 6 back that touched the 30″ mark as they would not move the balance beam lower than the 30.5( we could cull) The 28-29″‘ers would have been wiped off the AIM scorecard in the CRR format! Close to winning back to back after winning it in ’93 but my little fish were not big enough….ouch!

With the focus on BIG fish at Lake Mille Lacs, somebody just might figure out how to get daily bags that average OVER 28″!

Let’s hope the locals step up and get AIM here in 2012!

I can think of 25+ locals/Mille Lacs tourney guys that would fish it – Maybe as many as 50 if I thought hard about it. 100+ boats total maybe?

Participation would be much higher than LOW where they drew less than 10 local sticks.

I think it is a GREAT idea, a buddy and I fished a tourney on Mille Lacs this year and caught 60 fish and had 5 that we could weigh. That included about a dozen that were 26-27.75. Should be fun, I would sign up as a pro.

I emailed AIM a couple months ago begging them to come to Mille Lacs and I’m glad to see they are listening. Myself and many Mille Lacs locals will fish it. In regards to cheating, there is way less opportunity to cheat in this format versus the current rules we have to follow. The original post does come off pretty negative.

    #1096489

If AIM came to Mille Lacs, I’d fish it in a heartbeat.

I would be amazed if this event didn’t draw a 100 boat field, which would make it the most successful AIM event yet.

There would be lots of locals that would fish it, myself included, but the $1200 entry fee will also keep many local away.

This is the right lake for the CPR format. This lake would also do well in the pro-pro-co format that was used on Green Bay in July.

I would also like to see the team plus co format. It helps keep costs down and 3 lines in the boat is always helpful.

    Hey guys,

Mille Lacs is a very real option for AIM for 2013 but nothing done as of yet. I have a pretty good hunch if we can get this put together it is very likely that this would be a Pro/Pro Co event. I sit on the BOD and would be willing to listen to some ideas as to getting a host site for this event. One thing with our format are weigh -ins can be virtually anywhere so it does not have to be on the water at all. One of the things always considered is the casino and I have mixed thoughts with that option. As for the cheating side of things it is virtually near impossible with all the checks and balances of AIM`s system. I do believe the entry`s would be great for this event but way to many times we hear about all the local guys that are in and they never show up when the time comes

I don’t have a dog in the fight, but in my opinion having it at the casino would be a kick in the for a lot of guys. Maybe the out of towners wouldn’t care, but the locals would.

I don’t think any fisherman should patronise the casino’s.
