The UPL is 100% payback I believe.
February 21, 2012 at 12:25 am #1041099well if it is not 100% payback jon were does the money go. charity? if so what charity are we supporting?
February 21, 2012 at 12:53 am #1041116My question to you Steve is what do you think the payback should be?
In every year past it has been 85% just to let you know.
February 21, 2012 at 1:04 am #1041121geeze why is everyone getting so up tite. i was just wondering what the payout was. if it goes to a charity and what charity? i like to know what is getting supported by the extra money. if it’s going in someones pocket so be it. why are people beating around the bush.
February 21, 2012 at 1:15 am #1041126No beating around the bush here. I had planned on doing at least 85% once again this year. The only way I wasnt was if we ended up with a lot of teams and there was left over money from the 15% after paying for expenses. If that was the case I planned on adding that to the payout therefore making it more than 85%.
When I say expenses that does NOT include any money to myself, Dean, or anyone that helps out.And just a side note, in all the years that I have fished, helped out, and ran, the fyb and Saugerama we have came out around $200 or more IN THE HOLE after paying for expenses.
So I would say the 85% payback along with everything else such as prizes and food is a pretty good deal for the fisherman.

Plenty of tournaments in SD are 100% payback
The UPL is 100% payback I believe.
February 21, 2012 at 1:25 am #1041135100% payouts work when you have companies sponsoring your tournament. Come try to fish events around here where there are 6-8 boats and the payout is 70%. Not knocking that organization but an event like this paying back 85% then feeding you and giving away prizes is pretty good.
February 21, 2012 at 2:18 am #1041172Well, when Nick and I win it this year, we’ll let you know. I just hope the bite is a little more cooperative than the Saugerama was. This was the only nice fish that was netted in our boat, 33 pounds of love caught prefishing.
February 21, 2012 at 2:30 am #1041176There is a popular, invite only cat tourney on the river that is 100% payback too.

100% of nothing is still nothing.

1st paid out close to 300, plus big fish another 90. And food was provided beforehand and bullheads were provided to some groups.
Just the shirts that have been on “backorder”…
