2012 MWC Roll Call

  • #1336559

Anyone else planning on fishing any of the MWC events this year?

Last year was the first year my partner and I fished this circuit and we had a blast! Good people, well run tournaments, and a chance at some really nice payouts. This year we’ll be fishing Spring Valley, Mille Lacs, Winnebago, Cass and the Championship at Prairie Du Chein.

Curious to see who else on IDO will be signing up this year.

It was a good time last year as a rookie on the tour. You’re right a lot of very nice people and very well run.

Greg and I are signed up for Spring Valley, Detroit and Winnebago. We also will be at the championship.

    Good luck to all!

Still kicking around the idea of Spring Valley, maybe Winnebago if SV works out.

If I can find a partner, Mille Lacs for sure. If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM.

I will be doing the Cass lake event. I wish there was time to do more but this year is pretty busy. I am planning on more MWCs next year as this will be my last as a FLW co.

I’ll be fishing MWC again this year. Spring Valley, MIlle Lacs, and Winnebago. Other walleye tournaments this year will be all 4 Full Throttle events and all the Mississippi and Mille Lacs MTTs and Championships. You guys should come on out to the other circuits too. Would be great to have more boats all the way around.

Just out of curiosity, what do you budget dollar wise for a full season of tournaments? How many do you pre-fish? Seems like a action packed summer for you!

Dutch, that’s tough question….Especially if anyones wives look at this board

Entry fees ($200 to $750), gas (for tow rig), gas (for boat – at least $50 a day of pre-fish and tourney days). Lodging (at least $30 a day if you bunk with someone). Bait ($0 to $40 a day for pre-fish and tourney).

Then add in if you break something on the tow rig or boat.

Then add in the general cost of ownership for the tow rig and boat. (maintenance, insurance, etc)

Then add in the original cost of boat, tow rig, gear, tackle, etc, etc, etc, etc, ect….

Hard to come up with a number but I know in the 6 years I’ve been doing it, I came close to THINKING I broke even once. The other years the expense is chalked up to fun and the joy of competition.

But, my “budget” for the tourney season is whatever it cost me that year. No more, no less

    Hi Dutchboy,

My tournament entries for our team are about $5000 per year (2 person team) for freshwater and another $12000 per year for offshore/ocean tournaments (6 man team here though). So personally, I’m in for about $4,500 per year in base entries.

Regarding pre-fishing, if it is relatively new water for me, I’ll plan for one week of fishing before the tournament. For familiar water (Mille Lacs and Vermilion, I’ll fish a couple of days before the event).

Action packed for sure. From early March through end of November I’m on the water most days filming, pre-fishing or in a tournament. From November through early March, I have offshore tournaments in Florida and the Gulf.
