I see only 34 teams today. Pay out for 1st place was $13,000 based on 70 boats, so do the math. 1st place will be a free fishing lure and a T-shirt. What happened to the $75,000 first place prize?

It is sad. It doesn’t help that atleast 3 Wave Wacker usuals are fishing the FLW on Leech. Its good to see some big names still stuck with it though. There are changes in the works for next year and it will be better.
June 10, 2011 at 4:06 am #972335Most tourneys are down. Not to mention that the $$$$ the wacker requires. Is it still in the 4 didgits????
Lots of construction guys used to do it and the times are tough. If Herrick wants the #’s the cost has to come down in these tough times.
Would the field be double if the cost was 1/2, who knows. Doubt it…

June 10, 2011 at 12:57 pm #972378My buddy is fishing and is sitting in 3rd. I don’t know the exact weight but it was around 11lbs.
There are other major reasons why the tourny is not doing well! I don’t think its my duty to blast it on here but I will say its become more of a business then a tourny. The entry fee doesn’t have a lot to do with it. I am 90% sure this is the last year of the Wacker.

I was looking at 2006 and they had 186 teams and way more big fish, 7 fish at 14 and 15 LBS also. Just shows how the lake changes year to year.June 10, 2011 at 1:56 pm #972408Quote:

I did the math and the payout is like 60% should be 100% payback.
Does the math work better with 35 boats? There were ties for 2 places 24th and 33rd.

June 10, 2011 at 1:59 pm #972398My only comment on the tourney. If they want more interest from guys like me, call it an open tourney rather than an invitational.
I have not got my invite!

June 10, 2011 at 2:25 pm #972413I think tourneys on Mille Lacs should be the catch photo and release format, it would make for a much better tourney.

SIGN ME UP…I’ll be there! Can you imagine how much fun that would be?
Actually I think you will see an AIM event featuring the CRR format on Minnesota waters next year. Mille Lacs, Leech, LOW, or Pool 2? All great waters for CRR. Will be fun…

I was fishing ML last weekend with J. Carpenter and we both said the AIM should have an event out there. There would be some BIG bags. A 40+lb bag wouldn’t be a surprise.
July 6, 2011 at 12:38 am #978475I fished the AIM Championship as a Co-Angler last year to see how the format worked and what a blast it would be on Mille Lacs. I was skeptical at first, but the process works extremely well. The weigh ins were very exciting too. On Mille Lacs, it would take seven 25-26 inchers per day to win.
July 6, 2011 at 4:03 pm #978625If they had a CRR tournament on Mille Lacs, I would sign up. I think they should turn the Wave Wacker into a CRR Pro/Am event. It would be nice to see AIM come too. A 25 incher on the end of the line might be really exciting again.
