Most everyone should have received the fliers by now..many of you have already registered…if you have not, please get ahold of us..otherwise they are available at 4-seasons, everits resort, and upon request by e-mail at [email protected]…thanks again, look forward to another great tournament
for those of you not familiar with the Pooh Bear open..it is a fundraising event for local charities, donated in the name-memory of Paul Martin..a friend killed in an automobile accident in 1998..he was a great person, and loved to fish and hunt..so it seemed a great way to honor him….when it began, we decided to keep it informal, open to anyone, yet maintain a competetive feel..but always stressing the enjoyment, relaxing time fishing the river!!It has turned out to be a huge success…averaging 75-80 boats..then at the dinner and raffle we feed over 350 people..everyone leaves with prizes, fisherman get cash and trophies, and the raffle pays out $1,000.00, a weekend stay at the Grand Ely Lodge, and any pair of Red Wing Boots…most importantly, everyone leaves having had a great time..met many new people..and hopefully caught a lot of fish!! cost of $30 covers fishing, and dinner. those with young sons and daughters may bring them along for free..any questions, give us a call…Thanks again!!
April 8, 2004 at 1:49 am #300182Cranky,
Thanks for reminding me to get registered. I fished last year by myself, yet it was a beautiful day on the water knowing I was doing something useful with my donation. I encourage everyone to take part in an event or events like this. It’s not about winning; it’s having fun with your friends and family…..What fishing is really about!!!!
April 23, 2004 at 2:51 pm #302197My son and I fished this tourney last year for the first time and it was a blast. The people are great and the meal afterward was THE BEST. It is well run and a great place for someone who has never fished a tournement before and wants to get a feel of what it is like. We will definitely be there again this year. Did I mention the huge raffle and the very best part—-all the money goes to a good cause.
April 25, 2004 at 4:55 pm #302368The Sealegs And the Big Red One will be making another appearance! Save #80 for us as the Big Red One is a bit difficult to get started in the morning! He makes a nice lunch though!
SealegsApril 28, 2004 at 11:39 am #302593Thanks guys for the good words!! Sealegs..you and the Big red one..have certainly been consistent..I think this year we’ll just leave your cooler cups and tickets on the picnic table..then we’ll look for ya in 3rd cut later..so take your time!! one of these years the spirit of Peter Russel will come thru!!
May 24, 2004 at 2:36 pm #305859We have openings as we really do not have a maximum..so call 1-800-347-SOFA (7632) ask for John..he’ll get you a form..or e-mail me at [email protected] and I will send you a registration form….For all of you planning on just showing up saturday to register..PLEASE try and get your registration forms in early so we can figure out the food to order..we always struggle with this..no sense spending more donated money than we need to!! more great donations than we expected coming in as far as prizes to give away..should be another great one!!!! Thanks…Scott
May 25, 2004 at 3:19 am #306005Cranky, My brother and I will be coming. I think he sent the money in last Friday. My question is, My son is 10,will I have to pay for him if he decides to come and can we fish 3 out of the boat like that?
May 25, 2004 at 10:01 pm #306139Your son can fish for free…basically if you kids are under 12..and there is a paying adult –works for us..went down today..getting pretty good numbers signed up..we always have about 50% of our boats register that day..we were hoping for a better idea ahead of time this year..I think we have Ferrin’s furniture donating a fireplace..looks pretty nice..about an $800 value if I seen correctly. slumberland also is donating a sofa..looks like a furniture theme!!..fear not there will be plenty of fishing items..and the usual huge raffle!!..menu will be burgers and brats..and the payout to the fisherman if the numbers remain the same is usually around $1,000.00 for 1st place. and we pay down to 7th I believe. Thanks again for getting your registration in early.

good luck to you all…and please be SAFE and RESPECTFUL!!!Thanks, Scott PS, I won’t be responding to e-mails..so any questions, please call 952-210-3803..June 2, 2004 at 2:57 pm #307097please read the rule clarification thread about the pooh bear. thanks
