I’ve been looking for a new walleye rod…..all purpose kind of rod really. I was wondering if the eyecon 6’8″ mxf would be a good choice? I already have 6’9″ ML abu garcia vendetta which seems to work well for pitching jigs…..just lookin for input as I’d like to stay around the $100 range

The Eyecon would be an excellent choice

The Limit Creek rod line may be worth checking out also.

If I had to chose between the eyecon and the limit creek, I would go with the limit creek. But that’s just me.

IMHO…you already have a Limit Creek Smoothie action in the 69 Vendetta…they are both 69 MLF actions. The 68MXF Eyecon has a little more backbone for heavier jigs, some Shad Rap chucking and vertical jigging…

I personally use st. croix rods and love em. I have not tried the new eyecon though, but just from what ive heard about it sounds like a great rod. I will be picking one up this summer for sure

Limit Creek all the way. If you already have the “smoothie” type action the step up to the Medium Power Spinning Rod. “The LCS66MF is a medium power fast action High Modulus Graphite spinning rod. For walleye it is designed to vertical jig, cast jigs and crankbaits, troll bottom bouncers and three way rigs, and longline medium diving crankbaits. For bass it casts spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and topwater lures. Slow fish Carolina rigs with soft plastics and swimjigs. It also bottom fishes channel cats very well. As it is strong and sensitve there isn’t much it won’t do. “

Hands down these are the best rods I’ve used.

Good to see the 66 back inproduction! Some of the rods on the website have been out of production a while back, including the Med spin you mentioned, and casting rods…Turk was concentrating on the 6’9’Smoothie and 8’3″ Slip Bobber along with the lead core rods. It would be a good choice… call or email Turk Gierke for more info…

Ended up getting the eyecon mxf 6’8″…….and man is it a sweet rod. It is super sensitive and the fast tip is a real nice feature for fast hook sets.

I just bought an eyecon 68mxf. I fish avids almost exclusively & have a 68mxf avid also. For the money & the St. Croix quality, the eyecon is a nice rod. I use the 68mxf with hard line for blades & with 6 or 8 lb. Berkley sensation for pitching jigs.

IMHO – The eyecon vs. Limit Creek LCS69MLF is not even close. Hold both side by side and see for your self. The real match up would be the LCS69MLF vs. Avid and Avid is 60.00 more…

I whole heartedly agree with Turk on this. Fish these two rods side by side and you will see that saving yourself the money by going with Limit Creek will not cost you on feel and sensitivity. Actually, I like the Limit Creeks so much that, outside of my one custom rod, they are all I use. River fishing or lake fishing, doesn’t matter. If I’m bass fishing I step up to the medium power LC rod. There’s pretty much a rod in this line for everyone and they are so reasonably prices for a quality rod, it just makes sense.
