Does anyone have info. on how this works? My concern would be someone cashing my check and me never receiving the goods?

Yep, buyer beware. IDO is not responsible for any fraud you may encounter.

X2 I have bought and sold a lot via a few forums I go on. I’ve had more problems with guys not sending their money in a timely manor. A couple of sour deals, and as stated. Stick with reputable people. Beware of the user that just registered and only has a few posts. Advertising an item, receiving funds through the mail, and not shipping is mail fraud and can be prosecuted. Though it can be tough to pursue.
Couple of things to you can do to protect yourself. in addition to emails, get a phone number and reverse look-up on white pages. Cell phones will normally give you the city/state. Send money or items out with a tracking number. If you get the idea something is wrong, follow your gut and back out before its too late. If the item condition is sketchy, come to an agreement on return policy.

I wouldn’t put much stock in the amount of fish bucks one has. I just listed a sonar/gps for 750.00 that cost 6.99 to list. That wiped my fish bucks account down to zero and I had to pay the balance with paypal.

The cost of that ad was roughly one post a day for one year.

If someone has a lot of posts with hardly any fish bucks at least they may have sales history as opposed to none.

I’ve had many transactions with other IDO members and I’ve never had a problem. If I don’t already know someone on here through a friend of a friend, I look at how long they’ve been a member or send a PM to someone who might know them.

I also find it extremely hard to deal with catfishermen, so I try to avoid them at all costs.

i have done some deals here and no issues. find someone in the area to maybe be a middle man if you are having second thoughts. if the deal is legit the guy should not be concerned just happy with the sale. send the check to the middle man, and they in turn make sure your item is shipped before handing the check over???? or if not to far away do a “personal meet” to pick up the item. but guessing that is not the case here.
