Got to make a quick trip down to the River with my good buddy, Hofius (aka lil_ho). Quick hello to dean and a scoop of minnows and we were off.
Decided to avoid the crowds and headed down river again in hopes of catching the fish of a lifetime, 1st spot had 37.9 water temps. However, after 2 hours of throwing everything in the tackle box, we had nothing to show for it. off to the next spot, which produced nothing. Finally, on the 3rd spot, My buddy connected with a 20″ fish, of course he had to catch her as a boat passed, needless to say, we had company! A short 10 min. later I connected with a 21″er. A couple quick pics and they were released.
Both of these girls came off of Jigs/bright colored plastics and meat in 12-14 FOW.
Once again, as fast as it started, it stopped.
Gave the spot another hour and decided to head up to the dam to play bumper boats in hopes of a couple keeper saugers.
Found a school of active saugers in 26 FOW below the dam and ended the day with 2 keeper saugers and a few throw backs.
Water temps ranged from 36.9 – 38.9 degrees in all the spots we fished.
All and all, fishing was good, anytime you can spend on the water with a good friend, is well worth it.
