I fished from 11:00 am till dark today. The bite was fairly slow during the day today. You could pull enough fish to keep it interesting , but they were not on fire. I’m glad I stuck it out all day , because the last hour made it all worth while. I ended up landing four big girls , and lost a giant. The big one I lost had me shaking like I had buck fever, she just tore out. I sure wish my drag would have been a little looser. Plastics , stickbaits and 3-way and minnow all produced today. Here is a pic of the best one I actually got in the boat. She taped 26.5 inches.

Were you fishing wingdams, shallow, backwaters or what? It looks like we are in for a lot of high water in the near future, I wish they were wrong but it does not appear that they are. I just hope that it does not last long. Hopefully it goes down by the time I get back to Iowa.

If history repeats itself this first round of flooding will recede and then the mid spring rains will start a second round which will last much longer.

I feel your pain jigfan! I’ve been there a time or two as well. Good thing you had some other big girls to ease the pain!

Herb, shame on you! I for one would like to think it will be quick and painless, then on to some great “normal” May through July fishing levels and flows. Now you made me pull my head out of the sand.

Hope I’m wrong John. The next couple months of watching the weather patterns as they head north from the southern states will tell us how things will play out.
And as much as I dislike what the COE does sometimes, they are usually spot on with their forecasts.
