Spent the day on pool 4 today with a close friend. The wind made it a bit chilly but the River was very fishable with normal flows and decent water clarity. Fish were found both up and downstream of Everts Resort were we launched. All of our fish were males including 3 saugers on the 18-20″ range (sorry my camera is still in the fish house). Best rig was a green bucktail jig fish with minnow although an orange one also worked. I saw some fish caught handlining as well. We did the best in 10-12 FOW but saw fish caught in all depths including mid channel. Fish actually bit better for us in the afternoon after a great lunch on the water at the Harbor Bar (across the River from Red Wing). Water temp was 38-39.
Don’t let all the flood forecasts keep you home this weekend,…the River is safe and there’s fish to catch!
If you’re new to the river,…see Dean at Everts and he’ll point you in the right direction.
Good luck!
