I just installed it on the boat I’m hoping it helps me with boat control. I guess I’ll find out on saturday, sunday and monday. Does anyone have anything on it?

good tool but I am still learning it. Anchor lock is a GREAT feature for the river and advanced auto pilot has some great possibilities when used in tandem with kickers and drift socks in larger lakes!!

Just installed mine last week, used it Tuesday…I’m thrilled about the possibilities it presents. There is a learning curve, but I’m already saying it’s worth every penny. In live bait prsentations, I can see where it could really earn its keep.

I like it, I use it almost all the time, worthless in heavy current.

Think you will like it.Hope you got the 80#? Don’t try to over correct it, sometimes it takes a couple of seconds for the GPS to kick in with the cruise control and spot lock. This is my second year using it and I just love it. All my friends are getting one this year.

I am thinking of adding ipilot to my 101 Terrova. Just wondering if those who have it still use a foot pedal, and how often. My foot pedal is not working great, don’t want to buy a new one if I won’t use it.

I’ve had mine for a year, best money I have ever spent for fishing!

John – I’ve never used the foot pad in over 2 years.

I use it when vertical jigging with two poles. I use the remote when jigging with one pole.

When I’m jigging I rarely use it, but I could see fishing with out the foot pedal if you had to.

Personally I bounce back and forth depending on what I’m doing but I tend to sit while running the trolling motor.

    John,
When I had the co-pilot on my old MK, I never used the foot pedal at all. I feel the same thing coming with this motor already. I guess it’s more of a personal preference than anything else, but I doubt I’ll use the pedal much at all. Might still leave it in the boat though, just so you have a back-up in case things go wrong with the iPilot.

I got out and used the i-Pilot and sweet!!! It was worth the money and I can’t believe there wasn’t better reviews and or more of them. In heavy current it kept my boat in the Anchor feature for catching 1 of my 4 fish. I really only fished for about 1 hr and 1/2. I was mainly out there to play with the new toy. Not sure why but it big time helped with my boat control. Who knows it could be a in the head thing.

great to hear. i plan on getting out next week and testing out my new I-Pilot. So you were able to hold on the current seams well with anchor lock? How was the response? i am worried about that a little when fishng in Pool 4 crowds. thanks for the info.

I wasn’t able to get there sat. Lets just say I only had one phone call. I did get out there sunday. To answer the question about the current seams yes I was on one up by the dam. I can say you are better to manual control as to keep your jig vertical but when you get a fish on hit the Anchor botton and it’ll hold you right there.

For the short time I have used mine, here is what I have learned. It is not dead nuts, it holds a close general area 5-10 feet. Wind and current in different directions cause it problems. The I-Pilot controller is big versus the Co-Pilot which can be put on rods for easier control and continue fishing. I-Pilot have to momentarily quit fishing to run controller. For working shorelines I know I will still use the footpedal.

To be much better in my opinion if the basic controls could of been run with the Co-Pilot fob it would of been a much bigger hit in my mind.

Would I buy I-Pilot again in a heart beat, solely for the spot lock feature, and that is the only reason I gave up my MinnKota Maxxum.

I purchased one last year. To me, it’s the best addition you can make to your boat for control. I had a copilot before and it was great as well but the iPilot takes it to a whole new level. I haven’t even taken the pedal out except to test it. I use the remote all the time. If the current is extremely strong, the lock doesn’t always hold you but it does a pretty good job. I setup a trail for handlining and it keeps me on it pretty well. These motors are great.

Sounds like you had a rough night, sleeping on a thin pad. I’ve been there myself, note to self – never again.
