I am still real new to this forum and river fishing. I just got off of the BFN website, and am the proud owner of a whole fistfull of superdoos and ring worms. What line weight and style of line would you guys tie these too? This forum sounds like a great bunch of guys, hopefully I will see ya on the water.

The best line for me has been #6 and #8 Berkley Sensation Hi-Vis green. It is hard to come by but has been my best line. Followed by XT solar in hi-vis green.

Welcome to In-Depthangling jags, your in the right place to find what you need to know!

This question will easily get you several different answers but don’t worry. My personal favorite has been the Stren Hi-Vis golden flourescent. very easy to see, control, and tough as nails.

I have been trying other lines as well such as Berkely XT in the dark grey color. Very good stuff too.

I also have the Fusion on a reel and like the sensativity of it but hate that it clumps on my spool. A cross cut section of it showed me it isn’t round but eliptical. I think that is causing it to bind up.

I will be trying the good ol spider wire soon to see how I like it. Who knows could be good.

But when it all boils down the spare spools I cary are Stren Hi-Vis and Berkely XT. Why? They work well for me

The only line weight I use is 6lb (excpet the super lines). Four pound is nice but always broke at the spool if I snagged up and that doesn’t take long to lose a spool of line that way. Eight just never gets down to the bottom like I like it. Good luck!

I was on a charter with James 2 summers ago and the 3 of us were chucking ring worms to the shore for smallies. The two guys using mono were catching numerous fish. I tied fireline directly to the jig and caught nothing. Same color everything. I have used only mono for that type of fishing ever since.

Hey flick do they even make hi vis solar green any more? I loved that line for fishing stained water like the river usually is.

I just put 8# moss green Power Pro on one of my reels, the interesting part is I asked where their 6# test was and he showed me in the book where they don’t even make a 6#. The 8# is equivalent to 1# diameter. It’s tough stuff but haven’t tried it yet. If it’s as good as it sounds. One of your members told me about it and says she uses it for three years before she changes.

The best place to find that hi-vis sensation is in the Fleetfarms in the metro or SE MN. Other than that, it’s darn tough to come by.

There is one other place to find Berkely sensation. I have a hidden pile of it at the bait shop in Alma. I had to special order for myself.
