Has anybody heard of anything happening on pool 8 or 9? It is a new area for me, any hints would be helpful. Thanks ahead of time

Check the Genoa Update for pool 9….

Pool 8 just opened up, haven’t heard of any reports yet.

Fished below Genoa yesterday, things were very slow. There is ice coming from above the dam, and the water is very dirty. My guess with this rain, it will be a week or so before things shape up.

Was on pool 8 yesterday and had a pretty fair bite. Nothing big but some decent Saugers. Only caught 2 legal eyes. Lot of ice and water was starting to get dirty. Green superdoos were working the best for us. Stayed in 16 -25 ft with 18 -20 best. Lot of little saugers. I would have liked to have tried some casting shallower, but the guy with hasn’t fished eyes much so stayed on the vertical jig. Good luck.

I didn’t fish those pools yesterday and I’m not fishing them today. That might tell you something. Steve Tauscher and I compared notes and agreed visiability is about 2 inches. It usually takes 2- 3 days at least for the fish to adjust to this big a change. Bottom line is though somebody will catch some nice fish, but not very many different boats or numbers till the fish adjust.

On the other side the Northern have little or no choice but to react to the approaching full moon and rishing water and I expect trophys to be moving into their regular spawning spots in rising water any day now and I actually have been marking either Pike or Gars already. I would be kind of suprised if they are gars so even if visibility doesn’t improve I will probably target Pike Sunday and early next week. On pool 9 most likely.
