After a frustrating Summer and Fall on the MUDDY Mississippi , the water has finally come down and cleaned up nicely. I have been out 3 times in the last week, the bite has been pretty consistent. I have had good success vertical jigging plastics in 15 to 20 ft of water. The best colors have been anything from the “cracker” family, with goldcracker being the best the last 2 outings. With cotton candy and pro-blue also catching there share. I fished this morning in the rain and fog with good luck. I had my limit of eaters in about 1.5 hours. Happy New Year to everyone and lets hope for a better year in 2011. I just hope we can keep the flow down this year and maintain at least 10 inches of visibility. One good thing about 2010 is it made me a lot better high water fisherman.

Nice job jig fan and you are so right about a tough season on the southern end of the walleye system. It seemed that the river could just never hold still and keep it’s good color for more than a few days. Good luck in 2011, always enjoyed your posts

The water this year has been tough just about all year. But like you said, its make you a better fisherman for sure. Its just the oppsite on the IL. We have had little water most of the year.

Oh man, I was dying to go out in that fog, but work had other plans. Glad to see ya made it out Mica, great way to end the year! Just looked at the flow on 14 and it is still 52000 cfs. Hard to believe. Hopefully it will be a slow melt in the northland so we don’t have a repeat performance next year!
