I was thinking of launching from everets in the next few days with the warm weather. Is the river open up to the dam?
and has anyone been out with any luck?

Yes, the river is open and have had folks fishing most everyday. The bite is not “hot” by any means, at the very least I would rate the bite as average. Like most of the time, some folks do really well, some ok, and others not so well.

Oh sure…first the salt gets rubbed in the wound and then YOU put your cigar out in it!

I’m unavailable tomorrow…even though I won’t be sitting on the couch, I might as well be.

    See any piggies Frank?

Fine I didn’t want to fish with YOU anyhow.

We fished up there today and had a blast!! About a 35 fish day and a nice cooler of them came home with us for family fish fries. Biggest sauger were 17″, could not find the bigger girls. saw Dustin up there huntin for them, maybe he’ll chime in here. The river was almost free of icebergs all day until around 2:30 when we finally saw the first floating sheet, only about 25 feet long but definitely a berg. They had one roller out of the water at the dam so there was more current than expected in that area, perfect below the Y and downstream.

Fished by myself from 10:00am until 3:45pm. First time I have hit the river since November 17th .

No wall hangers for me today. Had 14 walleye in the 16″-21″ class. I fished 15′ of water and less casting jigs tipped with a minnow and assorted plastics. All walleyes for me today, never boated a sauger. Good to see some familiar faces out there

That is impressive Dustin to boat only walleyes this time of the year and that time of the day. Sorry about the lack of saugers for you. I know how much you like to vertical jig for them.

Dean, what type of line should I spool up before I come for some jigging?

With the higher than normal flows right now….a thin diameter hardline would be my best recomendation for the vert bite. 6# test is going to let you get away with nearly one weight lighter jig than a normal mono. I do still prefer mono for pitching Pool 4. I would highly suggest ya give the new 832 a day of use,you are welcome to use one of my reels to evaluate it, before making a final decision.
