A co-worker told me today that somebody told him that Trempealeau was open and they were catching saugers pretty regularly. Can anyone confirm this. Thanks

I just made a report on that . I heard it was open, but you could not get a boat in yet. I am heading over there in the morning to check it out myself. Maybe the ramp can be opened up with a little work. I will let you know in the am.

    Guys:

I talked with a friend of mine that lives in Trempeauleau and he told me that you could not get a boat in yet. I hope to be down there in the next two weeks and fish a little there and up at Alma. We should compare notes once the launch opens at Tremp.!!!

I just got back from Tremplo. It is so close it isn’t even funny. the channel is wide open and there were two boats out. The ice that is preventing access is not very big at all. Maybe 50 yards wide by 20 yards long. The little bay is still full of ice, but that doesn’t stop a boat from launching. If I was not afraid of cold water, I would just go chip it away enough to get a boat in. Then a guy could just make a wake and bust it up with no problems.

What’s the fishing like at Trempealeau?
Have fished Genoa, Alma and Redwing, but bypass Trempealeau for no good reason other than I haven’t went there with someone who has.
I would guess same techniques would work, but what about boat landing access, bait, safe boating etc.
    Stumped!

Tremplo is great for eyes and sauger for sure. I have not fished there for anything else. The landing is allright, it could use some work, but most do. There is a bait shop down the road from the ramp that has good live bait, not much for tackle. I like to fish there as it is closer to home and does hold good numbers and size. It is typical of most dams as far as traffic.

Just went and checked the dam. It is open and there were 9 boats on the water. All were fishing the west side up close to the bank. I also watched a few fish being caught. I am going to try there tommorrow if it isn’t raining to hard .

That West side is where everyone normally goes…There is a Nice Dropoff there, goes from like 5ft to deep. We did well there last year.
