The weather was less than desirable. We fished in rain , sleet and snow over the three days. This morning started off before light trying to get the trailer unfroze from the boat, 10 degrees things just don’t always work right. The vertical bite was outstanding for us, we caught many saugers in the 20 inch range and a few eyes topped out in the mid-twenties. Vertical jigging semi-pro blue lizards on firecracker heads was by far the best bait. We also had a good Dubuque rig bite on the wing dams with that presentation producing mostly walleyes. Purple chart. tail and oystershell paddle tails also caught a few fish. The early and late pitching bite was a little slower than we normally have this time of the year, but the vertical bite made up for it. Thanks to Dean for letting us warm up in the bait shop for awhile . Anyone going up that way make sure you stop and see Dean for some semi-pro blue lizards and ringworms, you won’t be disappointed. We ended up shortening are trip by a day, the weather man scared us back down here to Illinois before death storm hits tomorrow. Here is a pic of Dad with a average Pool 4 sumo sauger . I’m already counting the days till March for my next pool 4 adventure.
